(Pachanoi and bridgesii, Boom Festival 2023)
A description of waking up at Boom '23 and our activities on day 5 of the festival. Our friends had set up camp at 'C' camping and we stood at 'D' because we arrived later.
(Translated from my notes, only changed the names if our friends)
Day 5. We went to Camp Ket, the neighbors, for the typical ritual: Hakim or Thea wakes up first, followed reluctantly by the rest. Eggs are fried (or, rarely, pancakes). Daniel's cigarettes are finished. Cold beer comes from the fridge, jet black coffee is made and as soon as breakfast is finished, Bjorn digs up the big spoon and he, Hakim and Daniel shovel the first loads of ketamine up their noses. Everyone pants in the shade and until we start moving, ket is being shoveled, with maybe a long snort of amyl, the occasional lick of MDMA and of course a lot of cold beer. Thea and I roll joint after joint and by the time we're ready to descend from the hill, Bjorn and Daniel are often under the influence of 3 or 4 substances. Meanwhile some people take a shower, someone goes to the potties and a couple of handfuls of dealers pass by, including 'no shoes in the tent' 'Bro', the resident dealer.
After that everyone stumbles, except for the wife and I [we both don't really drink, don't use ketamine etc], stumbles downhill, cigarettes must be procured, money pulled from the ATM, wristband charged (again, not by us), beer needs to be bought, we go for at least one swim and the shit hits the fan.
Day five was no exception. We brought a pan and 'homeopathic sleeping aid drops', and I spent a good hour slowly boiling down the sleeping aid, or, deceptions aside, the cactus extract. Mixed the resulting goo with fruit juice.
Armed with the spoiled juice, another five grams of weed and in the case of Camp Ket, a load of 6-APB, we went to the festival grounds. We had a light meal and chugged the juice around 5 or 6 PM. An acceptable ROA. It was the coolest day, 29*C. Nausea didn't occur (with me) or was very light (the wife).
We spent a long time watching the clouds and the trees and walked to the lake to stare at the waves. Colors intensified a lot, everything became much more peaceful, warmer, more alive. Heavy visual effects weren't noted. We walked around, took a few swims and generally enjoyed ourselves. Cuddling was awesome, any form of contact / touch was great. The Main looked terrific, glowing. All in all not a terribly strong, but pronounced and warm mescaline trip. Probably due to the acid and 2C-B in the preceding days. The sunset was magnificent and from where we were sitting, my wife saw an arc in the distance. "Betcha that's meant to view the sunset". She ran towards it and yes, it turned out to offer a view over the broadest side of the lake (next to the water temple) and a picture perfect view of the sunset. We were awed by all of the deco, especially the 'trip temple' in front of the Main.
When music started again at the Dance Temple after the break, around 22:30, Økapi was on the decks. We had both seen the name on flyers and programs, but never actually heard anything from this guy. A totally insane mix of tekno, breakcore, DnB, psytrance, hardstyle, circus music, fanfare and hitech. It was very, very insane and compressed and somehow perfect for mescaline. We were dancing extatic, it was really good. Hakim found us and brought us to the group. They clearly didn't like what they were hearing, apart from Thea. The wife and I had the time of our lives and when Superliminal started around midnight, it sounded like pretty bland, generic psytrance and the spell was broken. While everyone started getting into it, we left the Dance Temple and went on a different adventure.
We watched beautiful projections (on domes, water sprinklers, smoke machines, the ground, etc) and went for some food. Went to bed pretty early (for mescaline). It was a light trip, but by far the warmest, most colorful trip of Boom '23.
