It really depends on where you live... if you are in Europe and possibly Canada, check out www.mushmush.net

America and Canada must by bags.... try the grain bag from www.MycoBag.com and be sure to search this forum for any tips and teks you may need.

Simply put, yes. Straw works but it is usually more for the advanced growers. Grain is best for beginers.
