This seems encoding/file-extension related. Two (seemingly related) things are happening at once: it's webp encoded and extensionless.

Even shroomery seems to have issues with this, it shows in the profile etc but fails to generate the micro thumbnail.



Without a recognized file extension the browser will fall back to handling it some other way, in your case trying to show it as text, in mine, downloading as a text file.

This happens to PurpleShroom too, whose PFP is also webp encoded, so seems to replicate.

Whether it's the site accepting malformed uploads, or serving them back incorrectly, I can't say from here.

I picked up a free AOL disc from a basket at Tesco food store, didn't even have a pc at the time.
I kept 'umming and arring' about buying a new one, the specs would get better and cheaper every week. In the end I was given an old pc by a workmate to try out.



Which I now use as a base for the drawer thingy which broke off of my pc desk when I drunkenly stumbled on it.

As I lived alone at the time, still do, I had no such probs about the dial-up.

I refreshed the page a couple of times, hit the back arrow once to get back to my message, and then was able to submit normally.

I’ve had the same problem for a couple months as well - tap out a post, hit continue, then receive an “website can’t be reached” notice on a blank white page. Using Google Chrome.
Sometimes the post is still there if I go back a page sometimes not.
