If someone (I ain't touching that shit) could just let AI make a video of 'Clocks' that involves IDF terrorists dressed as mime players, using UB Tek to grow little politicians and cops... And enough people watch it at the same time, maybe it morphs into a black hole and we can all be put out of our misery.

Goooood morning cult gang! I babysat my nephew this weekend and am really shaky with sleep deprivation. Gonna work for a bit and at the end of the week my wife's performing on the shores of the Mediterranean, so I better get my shit together and sleep like a motherfucker between now and then. Got a huge ass roadtrip ahead of us.

(And before anyone accuses me of hate, no, I don't hate mime players that much, just keep them the fuck away from me or I kill them). Kissies

Haha! I would at least have to keep a video like that on mute. Better to watch the mimes that way, anyway.

Yeah, dude, rest up. No need to start a long trip while dragging ass.

Yeah I'm babysitting a friend's house and cats in the meanwhile, so gotta keep that tidy and shit, and my own place, pack stuff (which I apparently didn't do last week), the kids are here, gotta work too, worry about my kitty Haika, got some appointments too, and we're leaving in less than 48 hrs. Something something 'don't say yes to everyone'. First world problems

Dude, I’ve been there more times than I can count. Learning to say no has been one of the hardest things I’ve had to learn in my adult life. But it’s allowed me to keep a little more sane these days. Give it a whirl! It’s weird that friends and family tend to understand or really just don’t give a shit. Lol.

Yeah nah, it's ok. I should not complain about that. We've all been through a lot in recent years and everyone had my back when I was chin deep in shit. So I'm glad I can do something to return the favor. My nephew is a different story altogether, his dad killed himself last year and I really want to be there for him and my sister. And he's a awesome kid.

Not gonna lie, these are the kind of people I tend to avoid IRL. It’s the do it to get “fucked up” crowd that tend to have the bigger mouths and I’ve been selective enough to have only had one guy I cut off. Especially since at first he seemed interested in it all. But when I offered spores he said it was “too hard” but then also wanted more. Nope.

And again, you do you, but not a level I wanna mess with.

The ones who are opened to the mental/therapeutic/hobby side tend to have a lot more Curiosity  in the whole process and it’s just a matter of getting them off their training wheels.

Good luck and it’s awesome you can return the favor!

I became a nasty POS to my family like 5 years ago and did a lot of life turn around and had nothing but support (even if it was the super tough support at first) and am the same way for all of them now.

Shitty in my case considering my life history I had to see what real support structures were like, but they all showed me how to not be selfish and show more gratitude for the good people im willing to have in my life.

I do have a confession.

I assumed most everyone was into Coldplay around here.

Anytime I mention my favorite artist when tripping is The Weeknd, it’s crickets.

My bad. Shouldn’t have assumed everyone here was blasting Viva La Vida

I guess it's pretty normal that when you're not immersed in something, you might miss certain signals. I for one don't know anything at all about The Weeknd, couldn't even hum one of their songs. And Coldplay is one of those bands that I've just heard because they're just constantly in rotation.

So I guess it would therefore make sense that you might have missed some of the clues that you're kinda surrounded by punks in this thread. Like my avatar, AstroSporeFiend's name and avatar, etc.

Dunno why I dropped that n in 'an'. Read back and was like hmmm, language much? Thanks for correcting that.

And on topic, I know exactly what you mean. Went through such a phase myself (although in my case it's like 20 years ago). Behaved like a total dick towards my friends and family, stuck in the most destructive amphetamine frenzy, and when the crashout came, everyone supported me unconditionally. Turned out the people I had been shitting on, loved me more than I loved myself.

Have been a really social animal ever since. So yeah I can totally feel you on that one. Nothing teaches a person respect like that.

And back to music... Not everyone here's a punk. I cannot stand punk music goddamnit (and yet hear it often as most of my friends are punks). Give me thundering basslines at 200 bpm.

And Shpongle of course. Not gonna lie.

Right back atcha. Can't stand most electronic music, but plenty of my friends and associates are all about it.

Not everyone here is a punk, but y'all are still surrounded lol

I'll headbang to Subtronics and Midnight Tyrannosaurus when I got some institutional rage to let out, kick back to Shpongle when I'm in a contemplative mood, chill to bedroom pop and shoegaze when I need a quieter moment, and turn on some Nordic tunes when I'm reconnecting to my inner self.

And that's not an exhaustive list by any means. Heck, now I wonder if there's a music exchange thread anywhere.

Yeah, B Traven’s avatar would probably go unnoticed as “just another deadhead” by the uninitiated. But in true B Traven fashion, he instead turned it into an homage to not just the Grateful Dead. I fucking love it.

Most musical genres, especially rooted in a counterculture, are pretty diverse at their roots. That is, until record execs find a formula that make them a ton of money. Which is why I have mad respect for smaller independent labels, but that’s another story. My point is, it’s hard for me to totally write off music from any on genre, as I’ve likely not heard it all and there is bound to be an artist or three in there that I like.

Splitty, I don’t like many artists in the modern “pop” circles, but I can get behind The Weeknd. He’s definitely talented, has had some pretty raw lyrical content, and his shit has some good hooks. I probably wouldn’t spend money on his catalog, but I wouldn’t turn it off if I heard something on a playlist.

Like I love all music (except modern day country). So I get some of the avatar references. lol.

I guess The Weeknd stuff is just when I’m tripping cause if you pay attention to his lyrics, a lot of it’s from points of view of someone crashing out which is something I can totally identify with. lol.

I’ll look into Shpongle.

Lindsey Sterling is the other artist who has a lot of footprint in my special playlist.

Edit. Like my favorite over all band is A Day To Remember. Stupidly enough I just dropped money for the cruise concert.

Ime Shpongle is best listened to as full albums during trips, they have a certain flow and design to them that helps you drift downwstream. It is some weird music but god damn it works for me.

My favorites are "Tales of the Inexpressible" and "Nothing Lasts... but Nothing Is Lost"

Those and "Museum of Consciousness" are the ones that really hooked me into their work.

For something a bit more on the smooth and chill side, I recommend Plantrae. Particularly "Taproot" and "Seeing in the Dark".

I tried this out over the weekend and it was nice. Paired well with walking around in a park with sun and clouds.

Classical is hard to curate but I like these ones.

I stumbled onto an artist on a random Spotify shuffle that I really like.

Bug Hunter

It's just a weird nerdy funky kind of sound.

I skipped 30 seconds to get straight to the song. This one's called Disco in the Panic Room.
