SNAILS

I noticed that the snail population near my outdoor patches seems to be up. Do these little buggers feed on mycelium or just the fruited mushies themselves? They are really small and I first began to suspect them after I saw them crawling all over the stems of some shrooms I snipped. Im not so worried about them munching on the mushies, they can trip their shells off for all I care, but it would really chap my ass if they were eating all of the mycelia.

i sprinkled around with some snail and slug bait, and im noticing alot of empty snail shells around. and i spray the outside of the patch with diazinon.

nuck is right.... the easiest way to kill snails is step on them. i even made a game up for it. you walk around your yard after a rain or sumthin when they are out in large numbers, and every step you take you step on a snail, try and see how high of a number you can get. so far my best score is like 63-64. it can be really fun if you hate snails enough..... i even do shit like that with slugs.

godd idea! but what i do is more constructive than that..... i practice my golf swing on slugs, you wouldn't believe how easy a 9 iron cuts a slug in half!

Thanks for the input, I'll wait and see if the snails affect my crops before I take any drastic measures. I just wasn't sure if they were notorious shroom eaters like slugs. These guys are real small, so they really wouldn't affect the yield of actuall mushies much, but if they are all in the ground munching on mycelia then I'd have a real problem. Shit, ever look at a snail? I think they're probably tripping all the time anyway, crazy little f$&%s
