2/3 sphagnum (peat moss should work i guess), 1/3 sand/nutrient depleted soil, so that she has to hunt to live.
otherwise she'll live on her own roots.
we used to had a nepenthes before, now THATs an amazing plant... she kills in bulk!

we always kill our carnivorous plants. my girl says she just doesn't know how to care for them, but I think that she gets really intimidated and in the middle of the night murders the poor little thing. Once I caught her dualing it out with a pitcher plant at 3 am. I said "what the fuck are you doing darling! Your going to kill it!" *crack* *snap* *ughhh* *pfffttt*... the plant dies "It was talkin' shit to me" she said... Appearantly they can talk pretty dirty and throw out mad threats. I tried to explain to her they only eat other bugs, not humans, but she refuses to believe me.
that poor inocent plant.

Here's my muscipula, this is the second year that I've had it, and this is the first one that I haven't killed with tap water!
She flowers and seeds quite regularly. In fact, while taking the photo I noticed little seedlings starting to grow. It also throws out loads of shoots from the base.
I used to have it inside to kill the gnats etc on my indoor plants, but it hunted them to extinction!
It's interesting to see how temperature affects it. In the cold, the traps creep shut slowly, but on a hot summers day they really slam shut!

I like the second pic - you should be able to see some long legs sticking out the trap (my hand is there to provide contrast and make them more visible).

Aren't they neat plants? It's amazing to think of the evolution that goes into something like these.

I took mine inside over the winter. It didn't get enough light, and hardly any flies in its healthy traps. I just kept it warm and damp, and although the new growth was horribly deformed (long, undeveloped traps that didn't open, and the leaves were very narrow), it survived OK and started growing really fast in the spring when I put it outside again.

So yours should be fine, I think. Just keep it inside and don't let it dry out...

They should be watered with rain water or distilled water.
