I'm curious which kinds are grown most for culinary use. I am seriously considering getting Shiitakes going, i love those thingies and their price is just, sad.

I havent started yet, but I am planning on growing pioppino in a monotub much the same way as I am growing ochra and cubes. Interested to see if anyone else uses monos and not growbags for culinary.

I did a batch of Pioppino a couple months ago.  I wanted to branch out into gourmet and never found this variety in the stores or farmers' markets, so I ordered some LC online.  Despite the LC likely being contaminated AND having a not-so-perfect spawn, they produced!  They were easy to grow and aggressive.

Coming soon: Brat Blue Oysters and Chestnut (both on agar)

I did a batcj of oysters a while back and it was dead easy. My local mycology club had an event where we could make grow bags from colonized grain spawn, newspaper kitty litter and the skinny plastic bags used for newspaper delivery. Super cheap and easy.  Oyster mushrooms are yummy and versatile and having them growing in my office was an easy way to have some kind of fresh veggies (ok not actually vegetables but you know) without having to run to the store.  10 out of 10, highly recommend
