Plus another for Scott's. And no the dye doesn't matter. I like to use the black dyed stuff because the mycelium looks cool on it 😎

Thanks everyone. I did buy scotts but got scared on the dyed colored, and switched to miracle grow "organic" mulch without dye. I do like scotts much better.

Is there a thread for just ovoid cultivation or is this the best spot? Most of what I found by search are the annual foraging threads. Giving an outdoor bed a shot this spring. Made up a bunch of sterile sawdust bags.

This is the best thread for outdoor cultivation. The only ovoid specific thread I am aware of is for indoor cultivation.

A little update, sent some fully colonized subs/wayan plates to grain and they seem to be taking off very well, especially the subs.

I sent my last ps cyan jar that I shook and forgot about to some pine wood debris I collected from the forest to see if it's a contender for oak, since I have to drive like 30min for an oak forest. The 2 bags on the right are the pine ones which I fermented for around 3 weeks. Mycelium appears to be jumping from grain to the wood fairly well so far so good.

Edit:Jeez the picture quality sucks lmfao

Some niveotropicalis on cheerio agar. Just put some to enriched woodchip jars.

Anyone working with baeocystis or stuntzii here? I have some cultures from spore on agar. Ill have to get some pics to see what ya'll think. They're both very slow and wispy on agar.

Ive only had wayans and a few ps cyan plates show rhizo growth. From my limited experience woodlovers do take their time im comparision to pans/cubes

Edit: actually while putting some plates on grain I saw some Azures/Subs that showed rhizo growth but most were wispy

I have used PDY, .5% BRF and 1% oat bran, only GWA gave weird results.

Can also confirm that GWA shows some weird yellowing but the mycelium still looks healthy and still moves to grain pretty well.

Just make regular agar.

I use lmea. Used to do 1.4% but recently just 1% and I like it better.

Idk what that means sorry I have light malt extract agar and water

Regular agar lme for my cubes is 2%

Regular agar lme for pans is 0.5%

Both I use 2% agar agar for

Yeah, just use whatever you’re used to.  Pda, lme, whatever standard recipe.  Woodlovers often aren’t picky.  I’ve used both pda and lme at 2-1%, they work well on all of it.

Between the two, the .5% you use for pans would work best.
