Put it in a paper bag in the fridge, should be ok for a while but really, I'd go ahead and dry it rather that risk rot. It's not hard. There are several methods. One involves putting that paper bag over a heat source. Split the stem, it'll dry faster. Give the bag a shake every while.

well I just picked it so I have to decide. Captain Max, I think I'll take your advice

Holydiver, do you use a paper bag as Captain Max suggested? I literally only need to preserve it for 5 about days. I don't want to risk having it rot though, so Captain Max I may heed your advice and start drying it.

cool, I just dug out an old fan that I thought had been thrown out.

Any objections to the old "let it sit on paper towels in front of the fan for 1-2 days" method? I used to think desicant was the best way but after reading some old posts many people don't seem to think so.

Dont just use the fan though, if you let the fan dry them out for 2 days, THEN put them in a dessicant chamber to dry the completely out.....

You don't want to risk any moisture being left over, so do the fan thing and then get them in a dessicant chamber... This is probably the most common method of drying used.
