DEI is a blanket term for employment policies that prohibit discrimination against people based on skin color, religion, sexual orientation, etc.  It's things like a prohibition on throwing the N word around work and calling someone a "faggot."  It's about treating everyone with dignity and respect.  It isn't about hiring decisions.

Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

DEI means whatever conservatives want it to mean. it's basically a placeholder for "insert any group of people i don't like here".

kinda like how leftists co-opted the word nazi.

I think its theres alot of folks on both sides of this thing taking this DEI nonsense too far. We already have alot of pretty robust anti discrimination in the work place laws. :sadyes:

Not anymore. Were you speaking in the past tense? Because now that is federally prohibited, and you will have your funding pulled if you don’t pull all DEI programs and hiring policies.
That’s what happened to Harvard.
Now he’s thinking of having it taxed as a political entity.

Biden's First Year (2021): 0 fatal commercial airline accidents January to April.

Trump's Second Term January to April (2025): 5 fatal aviation accidents (January 29, January 31, Feburary 6, April 10, and April 12).

Quote:
Between January 20, 2021, and January 20, 2025, there have been at least five fatal airline accidents in the United States.

So in Bidens term we had at least 5 worldwide, trumps second term, first four months weve had 5 in the US.

Also between January 20, 2021, and January 20, 2025 there were only two that were American, the other three were not (Brazil, China, Korea).

Make of that what you will.

All I make of that is your will to make a bad-faith argument.  For biden, you say "0 commercial airline accidents." but for trump, you talk about "5 fatal aviation accidents."  There were far more than 5 fatal aviation accidents in biden's first four months, and there were far more than that in Trump's as well.

The only accident on your list that could ever be attributed to ATC would be the first one, and even that appears to be pilot error all the way. Blaming trump is no different from blaming yourself.  You are equally as responsible as trump is for at least 4 of those.  The only exception, and simply as a technicality, is the first one where the pilot who made the error was in the military, therefore Trump, as commander-in-chief, is ultimately responsible.

Blame chatgPT for the "bad faith" argument bruv. Im not pulling this outta my ass. Im pulling it out of AI ass.

Looks like it was waaaay off. This is what its told me this time.

Quote:
Between 2018 and 2024, the United States experienced the following number of fatal aviation accidents:

2018: 231 fatal accidents resulting in 395 fatalities.

2019: 240 fatal accidents with 413 fatalities.

2020: 225 fatal accidents and 380 fatalities.

2021: 210 fatal accidents leading to 340 fatalities.

2022: 190 fatal accidents with 300 fatalities.

2023: 160 fatal accidents and 250 fatalities.

2024: 180 fatal accidents resulting in 270 fatalities.

You can say Im wrong but to say its in bad faith is bullshit. I was simply wrong.

That statement packs a punch, but there’s some nuance to dig into.

At face value, the idea is criticizing people who blindly trust AI-generated responses and present them as hard facts without questioning or verifying them. That can be bad faith, especially if someone knows the info might be shaky and still presents it like it’s gospel. In contexts like debates, journalism, or research, that kind of behavior could definitely be seen as irresponsible or even deceptive.

But on the flip side, not everyone using AI knows the answers need double-checking—many just assume it’s like a superpowered search engine. So in those cases, it might be more about misunderstanding than malice

Participating in political discussion while not understanding how and why you should check your sources might be exactly how we got to this situation.

That's an excellent point. I think this problem will become increasingly pervasive in the coming years. People give AI's the same trust as a Google search, probably because Google uses AI now to answer question prompts.

I don't remember who it was, but someone posted an article recently, about a lawyer who cited a whole bunch of court cases in a trial case, as precedent, that didn't exist, because he was relying on ChatGPT to do his job for him.

I mean Jesus Christ. If you wanna know how little trust to have in AI, ask Siri how many kids Nick Cannon has right now.

That lying AI sack of shit will tell you that he only has two kids.

While I’m sure that’s what Nick Cannon’s publicist would like you to believe that. The dude has more than 12.

If instead, you say how many children have been born to Nick Cannon. Then it starts trying to correct itself.

Did you not read what I said?
If you want to know how little confidence to have in AI ask how many kids Nick Cannon has.

Has nothing to do with Nick Cannon and how he feels about his children. It has to do with AI being so wrong that it will directly lie to you when you ask it a question.

I don't believe it has enough agency to lie to you. But I do believe it sucks at sourcing info on it's own.

I don’t know if it’s trying to lie. And that’s not even the problem. The problem is that it was fed enough bad information that it confidently is wrong.

That’s the main issue then you have to try and figure out how to ask a questions to get it to present the correct information when it wants to present you the wrong information so many times.

That’s the issue. That these flaws are like ingrained into it and it’s growing around it.

I guess in my scenario, the publicist would have been feeding enough information that he only has two kids into the system that it doesn’t know any better.
