Yes I’m finding crossover for sure Since my interest with attempting this whole painting thing, everything from mixing colour, which brush to use, do I dare try it? It is so similar to music in principle, however I lack technical skill to execute what is in my mind. Same as an instrument, Learning the scales, chords and so on… in order to have tools to create. I notice, how would I paint a tree or grass? Light and dark, treble and bass, mixing.

Well it sounds like you are having a blast I love to hear it mate. And hey as for lacking the technical skills-yeah of course good technique is important and we should strive for it but think how many times your own particular WAY of playing ends up opening some previously unconsidered creative avenue to you. The noob and the master alike can experience freedom from focus on technique I think, when the subject of creativity takes over and liberates the artist.

Plus, I think it's interesting to notice you said "do I dare try it?" as part of the process. Because obv with music, (in a general sense, let's not get thinking of earworm type stuff, staying power of music after the fact) there is low risk in terms of: say youre playing your new song and an idea comes into your head, through your hands, out the axe, into your ears. And to you, it either works or doesn't. No harm no foul in the performing of a shitty addition because the sound is "gone" you just try something else, but with painting.... It seems like a ballsy detour from safe- the very type that often gives that spark of something special -in the "performance" could ruin the piece with a mistake. You get what I mean? I see visual art as sort of high stakes in that regard. But confidence, IME in any artistic endevour, comes from experiencing fucking the thing up enough times that it's not such a big deal.

Mmmhm, that perception alteration feels all the more... not powerful, necessarily but, when no psychedelic substance is involved, it hits different.
