Not really sure where this post belongs, but I know most of you have more shrooms than you know what to do with.  Here's one more thing you can do with them.

Two things brought me to this point: I like cookies and I like shrooms.

So I combined the two.

Nothing beats a chocolate chip cookie.  Duh.  Here's the recipe I used.  First time making this recipe but I've had great success with other recipes from her.  It makes 24 cookies and I added 7 grams of dried powdered penis envy, giving each cookie just under .3g of horsepower.  Should make for a nice little edible.




Adjustments to the recipe

  • I added extra butter to account for the extra shroom powder, trying to keep the flour:butter ratio equal. 
  • The 7g of shroom powder equaled about 3 tablespoons (just under 10% of flour volume), so I added 1 tablespoon butter (just under 10% of butter volume) for a rough equivalency. 
  • Apart from that, the recipe remains unchanged (In retrospect, I should have also added 1-2 Tbsp of sugar).




The dough ended up being pretty stiff once all the ingredients were mixed together.  It had a certain "pull-back" that I don't associate with cookie dough, and I think the shroom powder played a part in that.  I wonder if this will affect how the cookies "spread" when they bake. It did not, they spread fine.

Initial thoughts:
  • Maybe use a stronger shroom, like pans?  Less mushroom matter would mean less stiffness.  This seems like a good idea, just gotta mix it with the flour very well...could you imagine that one cookie that got all the goods :eek:
  • After licking the paddles I think it might need a touch more sugar to compensate for the earthy shrooms.  I might roll the dough balls in sugar before baking.
  • Idk, I'm even more of an amateur baker than I am an amateur cultivator :lol:

I scraped the dough into a clingwrap-lined tupperware, then put a piece of clingwrap snug on top of the dough and flattened it all out.  Into the fridge it goes for several hours to chill and let the dough come back together.  Chilling the dough keeps the cookies from spreading too much and turning into a greasy puddle.  Not all recipes require this step, but this one does.

 

Once chilled, I cut the dough and rolled into balls for a total of 24 cookies.  I rolled eight of them in sugar and baked for 11.5 minutes at 350, cooled 5 mins on the pan then moved them to a cookie rack.  I'll keep the rest in the freezer and pull 'em out when the time is right.  You can bake them straight from the freezer, just add a minute to the cooking time.

This recipe made some pretty cookies.




Final thoughts:
  • I had a cookie a little over an hour ago and I'm feeling great.  What a cool edible :sunny:
  • I should have added more sugar to balance the mushrooms.  The cookie tastes great as-is, but 1-2 more tablespoons of sugar would be a great equalizer.  Even though I rolled the balls in sugar, it wasn't enough.
  • I need to make this recipe without shrooms so I have a baseline of how it "should" taste/feel/act, then I can really dial it in.
  • You should do it


Edit I baked some straight from the freezer a month later and they're not as pretty but they kick just as hard.  45 mins in and I'm kinda melting from one 🫠

I had a second cookie.  It was delicious, with an even better texture after sitting a while.  They're incredibly soft.  And I'm getting pretty high.  It's a win-win.

Mushroom flour is great in homemade pasta as well! Infused pasta, infused sauce, infused vinegrete for your salad, infused kombucha or tea. That’s a nice night right there with friends.

I wonder if you could make tea concentrate and add it in with the liquid ingredients? I've gotten like a hundred grams down to less than 100 ml. Probably wouldn't need that much for a batch of strong cookies.

While you're at it you could probably get some of that THC concentrate that comes in a syringe and add it to the butter

Im pretty sure thats how Shroom candy is made  by making concentrated tea and using that water to make sugar candy.

Some great ideas here. By homemade pasta, do you mean adding mushroom powder to homemade pasta dough, then making noodles? That sounds rad.

Any recipe that calls for water could be replaced with shroom tea, but I don't think it would work in cookies, at least not these types of cookies. Things like pancakes or bread, however, would totally work.

I was thinking the same thing about thc. It would be a good combo in the right proportions.

I was wondering if it could be added with the vanilla, but i guess that's alcohol and not water based. The boxed Brownies call for water though. I might try those.

Whoa, brownies sound good. 

If your tea was concentrated enough, and you got it mixed in well enough, then I bet it could work with cookies.  I guess you'd be aiming for more of an emulsion, since the tea wouldn't be dissolving into the butter.

Edit: I don't think this is a good idea. It would be too difficult to make sure the water is equally distributed. My advice is to keep tea in water-based recipes, like brownies.

I would like to do research on weed edibles+ mushrooms combos. Makes for a much different trip and much much crazier. I do not do it that often cause im actually nuts BUT, there is something special there that could be a benefit for many people I feel

My wife has pain and anxiety issues, I'm going to whip up a batch for her. She HATES the taste of mushrooms and gave me permission to sneak some into something for her at one point. She said if she knows they're there she won't eat/drink it. I was first thinking of a fruit smoothie, but if I appear out of no where with a fruit smoothie after making the house smell like mushroom tea, she'll know. She can't resist a brownie though....


Tldr: My wife gave me verbal permission to mushroom roofie her

Hahah thats nice. Ive mushroomed someone that needed it, where it took a lot of convincing. Turned out their brain was so rigid they didnt feel 1.5gs of PE whatsoever. Theyre in quite advanced stages of cancer, and im still hoping they will gather up the courage to want to trip big. Id love them to feel the bliss that I felt many times, get some of that raw optimism they have not really felt for their entire life. You inevitably come down to earth, yet its still an amazing feeling to float high even though it will last a blip. It is an eternal blip.
Permanent changes to mood and outlook on life are only done by sober personal work. Yet experiencing heaven albeit through mushrooms gives invaluable perspective. On another low level shrooming they actually noticed real physical benefits in terms of nerve pain, being able to move a leg thats been numb for a long time.. etc.
I really hope this plan turns out! If you regularly make her teas that would be an even easier way to administer. Wishing you and her all the best

Yeah I’m the pasta dough, the things I mentioned were a meal I actually did recently with a group of like 9 people in a kitchen all cooking together. We used like 5g of semperviva fruits. It was a magical night. We also made sundaes with some mushrooms chocolate sauce. All cooking together then eating together was a great experience.

I've made chocolates with THC + shrooms, always a hit with my friends! I think I did about 25mg THC and 1g of shroom powder each. My homey showed me his trick for this - make them in a muffin pan, add THC to chocolate and melt on double boiler. Leave the chocolate on low, and fill the pan 1 sopt at a time, then add 1g of powder and mix into the chocolate while its still melty. Even mushroom dose every time! A bit of a pain, but the results are always great.
