Hannah Kobayashi
    #29044341 -

So, here's what we know, or what I believe I know.  She was going to New York from Hawaii.  But, some delay made her stay in L.A., where instead of peacefully meditating and maybe using her bicycle for the mind to scry, she went off sight seeing.  And then she missed her flight to New York; then sent a couple troubling texts, then disappeared.

12 days later or so, her father took his life.

Latest news is she was seen going to Mexico.. and; police believe she wanted to disconnect, from her social media posts.  But, if your name is a national news story.... By this time it seems she would have noticed or seen.  I'm not adding any blame to an already tremendously tragic situation, but I would just say I pray for her and her family, and also I hope she will reach out to them or something.

And of course, don't know any other details other than this pretty much.  Also she is 30, and I think her dad was around 59.  Absolutely heart-breaking.  Although and I always return to this sort of idea; I mean he is at peace now.  (Presumably.). Have you seen this news story?

.
.
As for analysis side of it; as this is the Phil, Psy and Soc. forum, -- which I think it's valid... She never read Redgreen's advice or simply had the benefit of the Shroomery... (Probably)...  But psychologically speaking, I think -- this speaks to malaise, or ennui in the highest sense...

Feeling lost, confused, lacking direction. . . It seems these would be pretty high on the list of factors.  We have this ability to use phones for searching for beauty, inculcating beauty, health, and so many things.  Phone usage.

[Omygosh omygosh... Lost my post but very recently found out how to go back forward, heh, on tablet and saved it.]

On returning I wanna say, my thoughts on this are probably very flawed, and missing a lot of information, and I wanna say.thst.

But that was my thoughts.  Seems like she was feeling so very lost, I believe partly in externals and stuff... If living on Hawaii it would seem better to stay there... I can't imagine... NYC would be a desirable destination.  But in any case I wish the ultimate best for her and family.  And wondered what you all thought.

I think this also informs about the importance of keeping people posted -------- although, alternatively, the possibility or benefit of living free of social ties..

Like, we could say, about a hiker lost and frozen in the wilderness, "if only they had told someone where they were, someone could have come rescued...".  But that seems foreign, alien to me...  My thought is rather opposite, it's more like, if only they had known how to stay safe in the wilderness; or also not gone too far too fast.  (I.e., stay in your back yard until you're strong enough to go the Alps.)

Also, one woman climbed the highest peak on every continent, but she doesn't look super happy.  She looks like a bit of a terrifying grin.. yea she's from my State, Colorado.  Kinda feel like, it's better to know that you have nothing to prove.

There's no need for anger,
There's nothing to blame..

And I think nothing to prove. 👋🌿

Surprised no one else commented..

Dunno what she is up to but I hope someone tells her that has happened since she left...

Her dad took his life after being unable to find her in L.A.

Sorry, I should have posted an article to go with it.

Well, her sister doesn't think she left voluntarily.

Quote:
Sydni Kobayashi said she fears Hannah, who's from Maui, may be the victim of human trafficking, which McDonnell said Monday isn’t suspected. She said she can't see how Hannah can remain out of touch nearly a month after she left Hawaii.

"She always kept close to me more than anyone in our lives," she said.

Los Angeles police didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday night.

Azari said the family would deploy volunteers to look for Hannah in Mexico. Authorities said investigators are likely to be alerted if Hannah returns to the U.S. via an official U.S.-Mexico crossing or port.

From the above.

Police are notorious for ignoring abusive situations, blaming the victim. That police statement that she 'left voluntarily' I think should be taken with a grain of salt. If she wanted to disconnect, why would she go to Mexico? Why not the wilderness somewhere?

I think if there is a person threatening her if she doesn't do something, if there is all signs of coercion, but if she technically 'leaves of her own will', the police will say it is her fault and do nothing about it. To top it off, she is now in another country so they can wash their hands of it entirely and do nothing.

She said 'we met' - so we know very well that someone else was involved who coerced her... and the lack of police response is sadly, what I have come to expect from the police after seeing them fail trafficking victims at least 95% of the time.

I agree absolutely, absolutely, absolutely.

Your insight helps a lot.  I am an analyst, but I'm only one person, and I'm only me.  I am 100% in agreement with you it does seem 100% to be human trafficking.  I make mistakes of course but I'm good at these sorts of things.

-- Setting all that to the side, for a second, and to reset. Thank you Spirit shadow!  Alright so let me catch you up briefly on some of the main facts.

She left the airport, went missing; her father searched for 12 days or so, and then -- unimaginably tragically, ended his life out of desperation.  (Now these dates are not exact just from memory.  Maybe it was 14 days, maybe more or less, I really don't remember. Anyone can fact check these dates.)

Anyway so her father took his life-- maybe in an effort to draw more national attention to his daughter's disappearance, rather than an act of resignation,. . . This seems extremely likely to me as well.

And her sister, is 100% convinced this was not voluntary, and she said that her sister rwas closest to her more than anyone else.

I am thankful you added the texts, because I had only known there were some suspicious texts, etc.  Really appreciate your insight and input.  I am also 100% convinced it was most likely coercion and human trafficking --

These types of things are getting extreme, and obscene.  I'm the last year, twice now, I have seen elderly people in the grip and clutches of someone extorting them for money and it is one of the most awful things.

This is a little different and even worse.

What the basic pattern seems to be is this: make the victim fall in love, by saying sweet nothings and all this; but while the words seem love, there is actual animosity, or void and hatred behind them.  So then the second aspect of the operation: abuse, and guilt tripping the victim.  Manipulation and extortion in the highest.

Then money is demanded on some gaming card and so forth.  And the victim is generally someone already isolated, missing attention from normal family meetings or love, and likely they are people who have isolated their family and others already, and perhaps a little bit disliked.

Sorry for rambling.  I saw this happen to an elderly Native American (and fairly overweight, and wheelchair bound.) woman and so then the person just extorts and extorts, hundreds of dollars per month.

Isolated and guilt trips and so forth -- and it's difficult because the victim can draw the others into their delusion or victimhood -- they will speak so glowingly of their love, who is always "just about to make it there."  And so on and so forth.

Solution for this can be difficult because as mentioned, the scammer (and there are countries that take 20-25% of their national income from scams like this; for instance North Korea etc.) -- well as mentions, isolates and attacks anyone who poses the slightest threat to their evil.  For instance, "so-and-so is a bad person and bad influence in your life."

The only solution really is prevention; to make sure these people are kept in the loop, kept loved, made known they are loved and valued members of society and so on and so forth.  Ignoring and isolating our elderly (even if they seem like the most wicked people in the world) is what creates this opportunity.

And I am not joking that that money goes straight in the hands of players like North Korea, or perhaps some (I hate to use the word as it's used as a weapon these days) terrorist organization.

-- and to reset, and consider the case of Hannah again, it does seem to me the father's act was from -- of course -- sadness, but also it appears to me to be a courageous and self-sacrificing act, to draw attention to his daughter's missing person.  This seems nearly 100% to me as well.  It would be, as well, missed in total by the media telling of the story.  Which itself adds to misinformation etc.

It helps to have more people - especially intelligent ones - helping.  I pray for all the family.

Where'd you grab that text screenshot Creon?  I was intrigued by this story but never read anything more concrete beyond "suspicious texts".  At any rate, it does lend some thickness to the plot, and support the idea that she was in fact kidnapped/trafficked.

if it easy said:
If living on Hawaii it would seem better to stay there... I can't imagine... NYC would be a desirable destination.

She had family in NYC, an aunt if I recall, that she was intending to visit.  Also, having been to Hawaii nearly more times than I can count, it is indeed a beautiful place, but it's also a very small place.  Some people can be content in confinement to small spaces, but the psychological phenomenon known as "island fever" is legit.  Spending a long time in a relatively limited space can become frustrating, and most will want to seek out new environments to visit, even if only for a temporary change of scenery, and regardless of how generally beautiful their home island may be considered to be.

Yes to be sure.  I have never been but Hirie, for example, has been in my heart for a long time (9 years).

It's also an extremely, extremely fragile ecosystem from what I understand.

That could also add stress to living there, if you feel you have to sort of walk on egg shells for a long time to keep the place in ecological balance.

I'll also just say that people I know who have lived there tend to be remarkably, remarkably laid back and relaxed.

At the end of the day I think spiritual life is the most important thing for happiness; and if family or something is keeping you from it....

But like I say, well at first I thought something like that; but as the story evolved, it seemed less like anything voluntary and more like something evil and coercive.  Will keep watching.

Texts came from this article, there's another one too where she says she 'can't' get on a plane to Maui, suggesting something is compelling her, or her money was stolen. Considering your comment that she had family in NYC, she might have been prevented from seeing them.

Her friends think the texts weren't even hers because she didn't use emojis as she typically does - but to me that's probably possible if a person is in distress, and  the texts seem genuine.

I can believe this. Absolutely. And I do believe they're right. If the tone and every other thing seems off about something; it is very likely either 1) yes definitely not written by her or 2) done so at the direction and observation of a captor, or someone controlling her.

When you say they seem genuine, it kind of rung as though they are counterfeit but s good enough one to appear real.  Just a random thought but yeah as for tone and language usage, "just some matrix underworld shit, girl" -- rings false, somehow, the last word, and just yeah.  Of course I don't know mannerisms of speech or text, but it does still ring pretty false. (Which is just of course my feeling,) put that together with the friends and her sister who knew her.  Seems to carry.

Yeah i don't know all the details obviously but from what I'm piecing together the father may have abused her and she fled and didn't want them to be able to find her.

Or worse she just up and disappeared the dad was so distraught he killed himself, she made scores of people worried for her and she just wanted to be alone and killed her dad in the process.

No matter what it's a sad story. She also could have a serious mental illness or drug addiction which complicates it but it's just a fucked up situation.

Hi Geo!
Your reaction was a lot like mine, just several levels of wtf-- also because of how far out and strange it seemed, made me think it was a technology induced ennui, taken to an extreme..  of course the last few years made life difficult all over, and it seems to me things like this are indicative of the pressure a lot of people feel, from the war, Covid, the other war, etc.

We're brought up in this "if one toothpick is out of place, throw a fit" mentality whole on the other side of the world, raining down 2,000 pound bombs to destroy entire families apiece. Now whoops I'm not meaning to be depressive. Truly. Just always fighting the light and dark, you know.

I'm so glad they found her but here's another aspect which kind of sucks.  "Found her -- all further news blackout" is what it really feels like in these situations. Weeks about it coming up in the media but then when it is resolved.  Is there a commensurate amount of information now that she is found?  Not saying I want to pry into her life by any means -- I'm the opposite when it comes to that kind of thing.

I just -- not that I was hugely emotionally invested, but a little bit sure, and I just wonder about all the missing questions.  Is she okay?  Regretful?  Safe?  -- Was she never in danger, and why did she type it was some "weird matrix underground shit girl" or some such to her sister?

Anyway and maybe all of this is out there I'm just feeling a lack of it on my news feed.  Certainly it all is secondary to the safety of the people involved; but it does seem to go like that with news stories that get resolved in a positive outcome.

Hopefully CreonAntagone can guide us 👋

Re: Hannah Kobayashi [Re: if it easy]

Well I kind of lucked out- most news articles don't say much at all: "She's been found, case finished, show is over."  But Yahoo seemed detailed and interested in finding the truth still.  There are so many red flags and it doesn't seem likely it was all above water: Main facts supporting this;

1) Sister's affirmation,
2) Texts saying both she didn't feel safe, someone was trying to steal her funds, and things like that.

I'm quoting this slightly out of order..

Quote:
One of her last texts allegedly said, “I just finished a very intense spiritual awakening. I'm heading back to the airport to get to NYC. I might need some help getting there."

In addition to texts, the family also didn’t recognize the names of two people Kobayashi sent money to over Venmo on Nov. 10 — transactions that Yahoo News was able to verify since Kobayashi’s Venmo account is public.

The family also said there was security camera footage showing Kobayashi and an unknown person at the Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles, allegedly on Nov. 11.

"It has been confirmed that she did leave the airport on 11/11 in the evening and that she boarded the Metro," Pidgeon told CBS News. "She was not alone. She was with an unidentified person. That causes us extreme alarm because that correlates with the timeline of her going missing. So, our focus now is on the Pico Metro station."

https://www.yahoo.com/news/hannah-kobayashis-family-releases-new-statement-saying-she-doesnt-want-to-return-home-after-being-found-safe-205842122.html

Quote:
It has been 22 agonizing days since we last heard from her, and not knowing where she is or if she’s okay is heartbreaking," the statement continued. "Like everyone else, we are learning updates through the media, as LAPD has not been fully forthcoming in sharing critical developments directly with us.”

I didn't quote the article in full; partly because it's difficult, but the key points were- more info from texts, and a bit of info from the mom, talking about a possible green card marriage and so forth.  It all still seems suspicious and tragic to me, and I don't think the "it's all fine and done," narrative and news stories are helpful.

And I guess as always, best wishes for the family..

Quote:
The Kobayashi family said in a statement that Ryan Kobayashi “tragically took his own life” after “tirelessly searching throughout Los Angeles for 13 days.”

"He just died of a broken heart," Pidgeon told USA Today on Nov. 26. "Being on the streets and seeing what the possibilities of where his daughter could be. No sleep. The speculating rumors that are going around. It just took a toll on him."

All quotes are from the Yahoo article.

Re: Hannah Kobayashi [Re: if it easy]

Well I did a little searching today; earlier I read a couple articles I can't find the address for now; but basically they mentioned Larie Pidgeon, whom I hadn't heard of, but she is Hannah's aunt.

First what I found was that she is staying with Larie in Mexico, apparently.  And it was not real easy to tell because I didn't think she lived in Mexico but anyway.  And the first article said they were estranged from each other; Larie and Hannah's sister and mom.  This definitely appears to be true.

But also what I read this morning also mentioned a green card marriage, and that Hannah got married in Maui.  The other day read that her mom had told some source something similar; a fake/green card marriage, but the family (I guess in this case simply meaning her mom and sister), hadn't released this publicly.  And there was even a link to Dog the Bounty Hunter who seemed to say this too.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/missing-hawaii-woman-hannah-kobayashi-shares-heartbreaking-message-with-family/

Quote:
Speculation started to swirl after a picture of Kobayashi appearing to marry an Argentinian man before her trip to Los Angeles circulated on the internet.

However, Azari told The U.S. Sun last week that the family is completely in the dark about any alleged marriage.

After the LAPD closed the case, her family vowed to keep searching for Kobayashi, insisting her erratic behaviour was too bizarre to ignore.

Quote:
Hannah had sent cryptic last messages to loved ones, which sparked concern and Internet theories across the globe.

“Deep Hackers wiped my identity, stole all of my funds, & have had me on a mind f—k since Friday,” she texted one of her friends, according to the New York Post.

Oops...
Just got in a real world fight with my gf lol... She wanted me or needed me and I was focused on trying to figure some of this out.

Dangg..... Whole thing feels so toxic.

But just, a couple of random things; it also seemed possible she just wanted to get away from her family but not super likely...  And in the end it seems a lot like something bad happened.  I mean so many times Hannah said, "I need help," in some form or other, said they are stealing her funds, coercing her, and on and on and on like this.  So I really don't think all is as it appears... And the whole thing has a bad feel to it..

ButI like to figure those things out.

Much love and hope you all have the Shroomiest day.

Much much love.
