 Wisdom Teeth

My wisdom teeth have been hurting. I think gotta get em removed. Anyone ever had this done? How bad is it? Im a wuss about this kinda stuff. Its also a really strange time for these to becoming about..."age of wisdom" ive had a lot of self revelations in the past couple of months.
Anyway got my bag of ice and puffin a bowl  to try and get some sleep...Its really that painfull

I had all four of mine taken at once. Dont worry, unless the only dentist you can go to is some old fart that thinks novacaine is for the weak, you will be alright. Nowadays they put you under, so you dont feel nothing, thats what happened to me. Gave me some intrevenous(sp?) shot in the arm, and the ceiling came down on me in 2 seconds and I was out there in La La Land....great place to be! 
Why do you say its strange? how old are you? Anyway, you want to get that taken care of if it is bothering you, because that means they are pushing against your molars and that is not a good thing.

im 18...But the words "wisdom teeth" intriged me so i did a little research but all i could find was that it came from the "age of wisdom".

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

don't smoke anything for a couple days afterwards (sucking smoke can cause "dry socket" (maybe sombody blowing a "shotgun" of potsmoke might be OK...)

they say dont rinse, but a hot tea of goldenseal & myrrh & maybe lemon grass tastes truly horrible, & will accelerate healing after oral surgery...

oh, and if the roots are fairly straight, the operatiom is quick & simple...
(it's the ones where the tooth roots are wrapped around the jawbone & hafta be taken out in pieces, is where extraction gets to be closer to major, rather than minor surgery, eh?)
yah, a good local & maybe a general (knockout - i got IV valium, whoooo) - & by the time the novocaine wears off, you oughta try to have a couple good narcotic pills in ya...
(oh, doc, those codeines made me nauseous - maybe we could go for hydrocodone or demerol or OC or something that has a chance at working - oh, sure i'll throw away that first bottle of pills that "just didn't work"...)
most folks are pretty much OK by the next day (& looking forward to getting sutures removed, yeah... nothin' like gumming mooshy food with stitches in the back of your mouth, ick...)

I had mine done all at once a few years ago. It was surprisingly pain free. It was weird having holes where your teeth used to be, you'll find your tongue wandering over that area repeatedly. Just do everything they recommend and you won't have anything to worry about.
My Mom had one of hers removed yesterday and she's in her sixties. She's doing fine. You're younger so you should heal quickly.

Just go get it done. The pain of having them come in was WAY worse than the pain of having them removed. I should have done it sooner.

I had all four of mine removed at the same time. The operation itself was totally pain free, but after I woke up there was no local pain reliever and no pills to take...only a prescription for codine. As the general wore off my head increasingly felt like it was in a vice. I had to wait about an hour and a half before I got any pills - totally agonizing.
So...make sure you have something to take immediately after the operation!

i got my wisdom teeth takin out when i was like 15-16..... i got them young as hell..... but um.... it hurt more to have them in then after they took em out..... + you get vicodin/percocets so its a win win
