I need my wisdom teeth out!

Well I just got back from my first teeth cleaning in 7 years, and omg was that painful. That hook sounded like it was scraping every last bit of enamel off my teeth, but she assured me it wasn't. When I looked, my teeth were like 3 shades whiter, and the black cigarette stains on the back of my top and bottom front teeth were gone! Amazing. She managed to knick my gums about 20 times with the hook, and she forgot that my top left wisdom tooth is broken and she rammed the hook STRAIGHT INTO THE CAVITY. I almost kicked her!

Anyway, now they say I need all 4 of my wisdom teeth out and I'm petrified. Teeth bug me out so bad to begin with. Are they gonna put me to sleep? What if I wake up or the stuff wears off too fast. I have natural tolerance to just about any pharmaceutical so I'm freaking out.

I'm just now getting a first wisdom tooth in, and its been hurting like hell. It's weird, theres been a little tiny bit of it that came through a couple of years ago, but now the whole thing is starting to push up through my gums and boooyyyy is it painful. I've been meaning to make a dentist appointment but things have been kinda hectic lately.

Wisdom teeth aren't a big deal man, unless you wait 4 years to get them pulled like I did and they end up fucking up other teeth.

When I went in they just put me under. He put the shot in my arm, said to count to 10... I counted to 2 and went out. I woke up groggy as shit with gauze in my mouth. They gave me a scrip for percocets.. I went home and spent the next week drugged out. The pain was never really that bad.. more like an annoying soreness. But then again I have a fairly high tolerance for pain and enjoy gum pain for some reason. But the percs numbed whatever sharp pain I might have felt.

It's not really painful, but it is bothersome and agitating having all those stitches in your mouth. If the surgeon has a hard time getting them out it'll feel like you got punched on both sides of your face ( not the first day, you're so drugged up when you wake up you don't feel much ) but the second and third. After that your are just waiting for the annoying stitches to fall out.

I had all 4 of mine pulled at once along with a molar.

Same here... 5 teeth pulled in all including a molar one of the wisdom teeth had destroyed. And yeah.. the 3rd day was the worst. I just smoked a lot of pot. (They say not to smoke but I did anyway... didn't get any dry socket.. I just put fresh gauze in the sockets and kept it there when I was smoking)

...FEK. i have been needing my wisdom teeth taken out for the past 4 years. I just can never afford it. I don't know what im gonna do. I also need a molar pulled back there that i had a root canal done on which the dentist FUCKED up and used a post too big. I even heard him say "oh, we're all out? lets just use this bigger one." Using the bigger post cracked my root and it infected. So, i have had this chronic infection dripping puss into my mouth for the past 4-5 years or so. I guess im lucky im not dead yet, but im scared of dentists now. Ive had them fuck up on me on three separate occasions.

I couldn't afford it either and had no insurance.. I just had to bite the bullet.. I got my aunt to cosign on the bill and I had to pay it off over time.. fuck I'm still paying it off. $2300 to pull 5 teeth. fuck.
My advice.. try to get them pulled asap. Unless they happen to be growing in straight and not causing your other teeth any damage. 2 of mine were impacted and one was growing in sideways.. it was causing me extreme amounts of pain off and on for several years.. and I finally had to give in and make an emergency dentist appointment after one had put so much pressure on one of my back molars it literally cracked in half and it became infected. Which then became a life-threatening thing. The pressure those things were putting on the rest of my mouth was insane.. if that's the case with you.. go before they fuck up other teeth and then you'll have more dentist bills to deal with in the future...

ahh and I just read your edit.. my best advice is find a good dentist. An 'oral surgeon'. They are more expensive but fuck, they do a good job. And maybe I'm wrong but if that one dentist fucked up isn't there some kind of compensation you can get?

I'd rather see a surgeon. I have Delta Dental, and my dentist said that's really good coverage, I just need to make the call and see what's up.

I just made an appointment for January 8th. Just a consultation, but I'm curious to the cost.

Yeah a surgeon is your best bet. If you have good insurance I wouldn't worry about it man... the bill hurt me a lot more than the pain did.

i had all 4 taken out last month, my two lower w. teeth were impacted. the pain meds helped, but shit actually seemed to hurt more later than initially. it's expensive, can be extremely painful for some [in my case that was true] and is unpleasant in general, but you should definitely get it done if you can, otherwise they can crowd up your teeth or give you nasty headaches like i always used to have
