bankruptcy and owning a house?

Ehh... I don't know if this place will yeild a lot of answers, but when I skim through the spirituality and philosophy forum I figure why not.

Basically this question's for my mom and stepdad. If anyone can begin to point us in the right direction, that would help and be more than appreciated.

For now, I guess I might as well kick my stepdad's ex for wrecking his shit in their divorce... yar.. :frown:

seen as where your posting this....grow weed.  Its lifes solution for all of our misfortunes.  sell and make money, smoke and be happy  :cool:

I had a friend that grew for that reason, paid off his mortgage (wisely over many years...dont be dumb about it) and has family kids etc.  worked good for him, but he also had very close friends who would buy it off him...

guess you could always try that whole work deal :dancing:

If you already owned the house then you should be able to work something out. If you went bankrupt and then tried to buy a house then you would have very little luck because no one would let you borrow money.

That's what I have learned from my dad's mistakes, but I would check with other people.

Yeah, I'm thinking that we're just screwed. My mom's got one more year of college and she'll be a full registered nurse. That's the big reason why I haven't grown, cause she thinks we'll get busted and she'll have to pay for her burseries and shit. She's been getting straits A's and all that, so she's really sketched about losing all that free education...

Depends on what kind of bankrupcy they file but generaly they will not lose the house. They can keep the car too. A lawyer will give a free consult but basicly choose what you will continue to pay and you can keep it. They should hury though because I know they were going to tighten the bankrupcy laws if they haven't already. And frankly it realy isn't that bad to go through anymore. You can have credit built back up in a year if you go about it right. Remember that creditors will realizer that if you file then you can't do it again for some amount of years (7 or 10 I think) so they will loan to you because you won't be able to get out, but they will change you more intrest.
