I`m not putting description of what you can clearly see from the pictures

Caps vary from an inch give or take a 1/4
Spore print n/a Still waiting
Very slimy texture on caps when wet.

At first glance those look like Coprinus. Let us know how the spore prints come out.

Happy mushrooming!

yes coprinus certainaly looks right. they don't quite look like your usual C. micaceus but the substrate is right. TM: do you know of any other substantialy sized coprinus species that grow on wod and have orrnagish colored caps?

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

A few similar looking species are Coprinus silvaticus, C. domesticus, and C. radians, although C. radians can be easily distinguished by its conspicuous mycelium. I have also seen a Pluteus species (I can't rermember which one offhand) which looked like C. micaceus when young.

Those species are the reason why you need to see the mica-like particles on the caps to verify C. micaceus.

Happy mushrooming!
