they are all pics of the same shrooms. The first pic is an overview of the habitat, the second pic is the gills of the larger mushroom in the first pic, The third is the margin of the shroom in the first pic. Still waiting for the spore print.

I believe they're all the same mushroom and I beg to differ.

Polypore refers to the gill structure of the mushrooms. Polypore's are mushrooms with rough flesh, having a sponge type "gill" structure that is composed of pores, thus giving them the name Polypore.

I believe the mushrooms he found belong to the Lentinellus genus. No clue what species, there doesn't seem to be much information on species of the genus on the net, and there's next to none in my books.

Those look a lot like Panus conchatus. If so, it will have a white spore print. They are not always that hairy.

Here is a link to the Mykoweb page on this species. And here is a link to another page which gives some nice distinguishing features for this species.

A related species, Panus rudis also looks pretty similar to your specimens, but is usually not as purple as P. conchatus is.

Neither species is considered edible (due to texture). They are certainly interesting looking.

Happy mushrooming!
