SHAKING GRAIN JARS

Does excessive shaking of grain jars reduce the virility of the mycelia? Once fully colonized, I like to shake the jar, break up the grain, and wait a day or two to see how well the mycelia regenerates (an indication for me that the mycelia is still healthy). Of course, by doing so, I worry that it would affect yield from the bulk grow. Does it?

I actually recommend the practice you describe. Breaking the grain jars up the day before is exactly what I do. It loosens the grain kernels and the mycelium must recover and generate new cells. When spawned the next day the mycelium is actually more vigorous, almost immediatly ripping into the substrate...

But every time you shake and break up the mycelial network, doesn't the mycelia use more of its energy to regenerate the network?
