Light regime for peruvianus seedlings
    #2860161 - 07/06/04 12:54 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Hi all,

I've got 50 trichocereus peruvianus seedlings germinating. After about 5-6 days 3 had popped up so I stuck them in my growroom cabinet which has a 400W HPS bulb (it grows great mull )

my question: should I run them at 12/12? or take advantage of the indoor light and crank up the daytime lengths? I don't wanna confuse them because they won't be staying in there forever.

400w hps might be a little excessive for seedlings, you may end up sunburning them, I'm not expert though so I'd wait for a second opinion.

Yeah I figured that, I'm being extra careful with the misting, when I get some time I will get a shadecloth. They're still in the humidity dome which should shield them slightly, they are very light green and cute, some still have the pod attatched to their tips.

My cacti seedlings (all my plants, actually) are on a 16/8 cycle, and are doing just fine... Total light = 150W flouro, they could take more, but they're OK.
But I don't plan on moving them anywhere, I'm not sure how much a sudden change in light cycle will shock them, but I don't think it would be very serious. Not as serious as 400W HPS burn!
