Agreed. Just seen this thread and from the pictures you've posted it definitely was a light issue. Being peyote they should be globe shaped from the beginning, not columnar like yours were.

All you can do is try again. I would read up about soils as well. Straight peat isn't ideal but will work in a pinch. You'll get better results by incorporating some coarse sand and/or perlite into the mix to open it up. A gritty, free draining mix is what you want for cactus seeds.

Yeah, I only got a few the first time to test out the source. I'll be getting much more next time.

yeah, I'm kind of hoping that some of the seeds that didn't sprout at first come up.

Well, one of the ones that had shriveled up sprouted new growth out of the old roots. This one looks super healthy, nice and round and a nice, rich green. I have a layer of aquarium gravel protecting it this time and it seems to really like it. The light covering of small rocks seems to have promoted growth, each time is starts to come out of the gravel, I put another layer on just enough to shelter it and it seems to really like this treatment. Also started watering exclusively from the bottom to promote deep root growth.

Also, a few weeks ago, the pot got bumped and knocked over, uprooting this seedling. I promptly poked a small hole in the soil and set it upright, gently packed some soil around the roots and put new rocks around it. After this incident is when growth really seemed to take off. This seedling is one tough cookie.
