Taking the trash out regularly helps a lot. Are you using honey with your cakes? Other than that fruit flies are really hard to get rid of. Good Luck.

The only fruit in the house is kept in the kitchen, oppisite sides of the house. the room only has a fish tank and my friends project. Besides a few iteams of furnature and such their is really nothing in there. I am baffeled to how this might have started that is why I was seeing if anyone had delt with this problem before. If he finds the source of the flies I will post it here to give you guys an idea of what not to do. Thanks

The flies winter over in the walls and eaves of your home. As the weather warms they should move outdoors. Until then they can be a real hassle. The only way to get rid of them is with pesticides. Spray around baseboards, windows, any cracks or spaces in walls, etc. Your problem sounds like cluster flies. Do you live near a farm, livestock or swampy land?

My buddy lives near a lake, farm, wooded area, and a swampey area, all being withen 2-3miles. That sounds a bit more likely than fruit being in the room at any time. Do u think it is possible that they are eating the shrooms themselves, non have had any signs of damage. Anyways thanks for all of your replys and time
peace

Damn! How did I know that? They`re cluster flies and should leave your shrooms alone. Right now they have something else in mind.

I had this same problem about a month ago...I went out and bought a very good insecticide spray can. One that can be used in your house and is safe to use around farm animals. This will kill all your flies in seconds.
Spray you fruiting camber out 2 times a week. Leave for a couple seconds then fan out the area good. You must keep doing this, as soon as you see adult fies the cycle has already started over again.
The mycelum is strong an is fairly uneffected by the weak poison.
