Saftey reminder

I'm sure all of you know this already but I felt like posting this as a reminder to those new comers who may not be aware.

Don't tap your jars by hand. Use something else. Stamets recommends a rubber tire to bounce the jars off of.

Even if the jar has no cracks or other signs of damage they can be very weak from the PC. Don't learn the hard way. A friend of mine got lucky yesterday when a perfectly good looking jar exploded in hand after a one small tap.

what? exploded with the tap of a finger? why would a tire be any more gentle then a finger?

What he says is that broken glas is more gentle on the tyre than on his hand....

I had one break on me as well. I was lucky that I did not get one cut at all. Unfortunatly it threw WBS all over the room. I had one hell of a mess to clean up...

Ive gotten jar shards in my hands too.... but I was using a tire. I was palming the jar instead of holding it by the rim, practically slamming it against the tire to break it up. I actually felt the jar collapse before I even heard the glass shatter. Spawn and glass went everywhere. I got a nice cut on my hand that bled for awhile but didn't require stitches. Thankfully, my roomies were around and they cleaned up the most of the mess while I waited to be leak-free.
