San Pedro Question

Where can one get truly large (5 - 6" diameter) pachanoi cuttings? All I ever see is the 2 - 3" cuttings for sale. I know it grows much larger.

I think your best bet would be a local nursery. I payed 35 bucks for a 24" san pedro that had a diameter of about 5 inches at it's thickest. Sorry if you're looking for online vendors.

The thin ones have the best alkaloid content per weight and they are both equal as far as growing so I'd go with the skinny ones if you can find them. As for the cheapest per pound, try ebay.

I found this T. terscheckii at a local nursery:

Only problem was they wanted $225 for it.

It was about 3.5 feet tall and 6-8 inches wide.

it is a generalization, but the skinnier ones have more of the chlorophyll containing tissue layer by volume than the meatier ones. this layer is where a majoroty of the alkaloids are contained. this is not always the case, as many of the little skinny ones are mostly the current year's growth, which can be quite lacking in alkaloids. cacti are verry prone to indeviduality .

gumby: they wanted $225 and you didn't pistol-whip them with a television remote?

shit, i guess it kinda depends on where you live....out here in southern arizona, the only thing that grows is the shit with thorns....i can go to any local nursery, home depot, wal mat gardening section, or neighbors yard and ask for a cutting

I wasn't wanting it for alkaloid content so much as to have a base from which to start a truly large plant. Local nursery is a wash were I live.
