San Pedro Question

I just was given four 2ft San Pedro in pots from a friend that didn't want them anymore. I was thinking about trying some of the cactus to trip..but I also want to grow them.
They're still in the pots so should I simply take a razor-shrap knive and cut 1 foot off two of the cacti. After the cut is made what should I do with the cactus in the pot. Will it regrow itself? The picture I posted is what I am thinking about doing (Found it in another post), those will just grow back a tip right?
Thanks...

Hello....welcome to the shroomery
Since your cacti are 2ft tall each, what I would do is cut the cactus about 10 cm from the base, leaving a 10cm tall stump. It is a good idea to make the cut at an angle, so that any water which goes onto the cactus won't cause the stem to rot.
The stump will take a few weeks to form a calloused skin over the stump. After that it will put its energy into producing more 'pups' from the top of the stump, like in the above photo.
Also, if you want to grow even more cacti, cut the top off so that you have about a 15cm (1/2 ft) section. Leave this in the sun for a few days until the bottom has calloused (you dont need to worry about making this cut on an angle, but it doesnt hurt). Then, plant this in some well-draining soil, perhaps 50% sand, 50% potting soil, or a pre-mixed cactus soil from a garden store. Make sure the cutting is planted at least 5cm into the soil, and its a good idea to put some stones / pebbles around the base of it to provide support while it forms roots. Leave the cutting in the shade for 2 weeks - 1 month, this is the time it is forming roots. Don't water it during this time either. After 2 weeks - 1 month, you can give them some water and put them in a place that gets a little sun. Gradually increase the amount of sun it gets each week until its in the sunniest place you can find.
Good luck any have fun with your cacti!

Anyone have Vinny's Home & Garden around your area? In a few hours I'm thinking about going there to buy more. The website says they have Cacti & Other Succlents. I hope they have San Pedro or Peruvian Torch. Anyone have any idea?
