Need Good ways to kill snails/slugs Outdoor Patch

Alright, so someone is going to have an outdoor patch, the hole has already been dug etc. The spawn is almost ready and everything else is in place. So, it rained all day today, it was decided to go check on the hole to see if it filled up with water or not, just to make sure its in the right place. The destination was reached, and on the way MANY snails were crushed, these little bastards were EVERYWHERE. There werent many in the hole, because its just dirt, but on the branches around the hole, and the grass around the hole there was a bunch. What can be done to deter these little bastards? will salt actually help? like constantly putting a 2" barrier around the hole? that seems excessive. the patch wants to be kept looking semi-normal, so a plastic barrier around is not going to help any, but if thats all that can be done, or if its the best way, then thats what will be done. anywayz, do you guys have any tips/suggestions?

I've read that ash and egg shells work pretty well, It doesn't kill them but it is suppose to keep them away.

Put beer traps around your plot.  Take a small dish of some sort, sink it up to its rim in the earth, and then fill it with cheap beer.  The little bastards love the stuff, since it smells like wet, decaying grains (high energy food!  Whoo!) and they go in and drown.  :smile:

hedgehog? no! i dont need any more pets, especially one i leave outside, too expensive to leave outside and have eventually escape.
And cheap beer, i dont know about that one, i personally consume 12-24 cheap beers a night myself. bad habit, i dont need to spend similar money on my patch. Someone reminded me about water softner salt tablets, i may just put them around the hole, with some steel wool, Why the hell not?

copper wire keeps them away, works for the bottoms of MJ plants :smile: Diatomaceous earth also works great, it slices the bastards. But I would say beer is the best cheap fix.

A ring of any course, fibrous substance: steel wool, hair, straw etc. will prevent slugs and snails reaching your patch. Alternatively, try a ring of sand, or one of salt if you want to kill them.

I agree with the beer traps.... they absolutely work wonders... and fill up with drowned snails in no time...

and what about the spider thing???? in what hell of a country do you have snail eating spiders??????????????? ours just eat insects...

Diatomaceous earth sounds like a good idea since it needs to be kept looking like just a random patch of shrooms :wink:  so a trench of beer isnt gonna help, neither would a ring of salt. Where can this Diatomaceous earth be found?

Goto walmart a get something called "Snug and Snail Bait II" in the pesticide section. Its in a red box and kind of powdery. Snails loves that shit, I sprinkled some on my garden and next morning there were black toasted snails all over the place  :thumbup:
