Problem - Starting Up.
    #2808701 -

Hello all,

I am not currently at my computer. My computer is failing to start up. I am getting the message about "Trend ChipAwayVirus" When trying to start up. When the computer is almost finished starting up, it promptly restarts and goes through this process over and over. After doing a little research about what this "Trend ChipAwayVirus" is, I learned that it affects the BIOS of the computer so it cannot start up properly.

Right now my computer is sitting in setup, and I am currently trying to figure out how I could possibly get rid of this virus and start my computer up. The Only solution that I found in my small bit of research I've done was to reformat the harddrive and reinstall the OS, which is something I don't think I'm ready to do as of yet.

Can anyone help me at least start my computer up so I can begin to permanently take care of this problem?

*update*

It appears that I misread my first source of information.

After a little more research, I have found that Trend Chipawayvirus is integrated within BIOS to prevent Book up viruses.

Coincidentally the first time I notice the text "Trend ChipAwayVirus(R) on Guard 1.65" while starting up the computer is the first time my computer fails to start up.

 This is starting to confuse me.

how far is it booting? Boot off the windows xp cd or a boot disk and try a windows recovery. If the bios is fux0red you might have to get it reflashed or somthing.

If you have to reinstall xp its easy, just boot of the disk and follow directions.

This is the only time I really feel alive.

So can I simply put the Windows 2000 CD in while booting up? Or is there anything I need to do to run the disc.
