thanks for the reply kast.
yeah i understand about them fruiting outdoors etc. but i thought/think/read the mycelium can be grown on rye, then spawned to woodchips?
now this isn't necessarily mushroom cultivation but more mycelium growth i'm talking about.
it's just that i read all the time of people doing the juice thing and thought that maybe if this does grow easily on rye, wouldn't it be a better strain to start with?
please don't come down to heavy on me if you think this is off topic.

Yeah, it'll grow on rye. cyanescens isn't a strain, it's a completely different species; If you're just starting off, I suggest going with cubensis, it can't get any easier. But if you're just experimenting, cyanescens would be a fun project.

Ps. cyanescens mycellium will grow fine on brf and verm substrate, prolly work your way too. Then it msut be transferrred onto the wood chips.
For more detailed information on growing this specie, visit the Psilocybe cyanescens Hompage at the Spore Lab.

Psilocybe cyanescens is more potent that cubensis. And Panaelous cyanescens/tropicalis is much more potent that cubensis.

Yes, you are right, pan cyan MUSHROOMS are number 4, cubensis MUSHROOMS are 6 i think, and ps cyan MUSHROOMS are number 2 i think. BUT, he is talking about the MYCELIUM. He wants to extract the psilocybin/cin from the MYCELIUM and drink it, and I was under the impression that the MYCELIUM of ps. cyan mushrooms contained less psilocin/ybin than cubensis MYCELIUM. He is not talking about growing the mushroom, only the mycelium. I advise against this, unless you try to fruit them.

Kast, and everyone else, what morlahere was wanting to do is eat/drink the mycellium, and psylohassee said the mycellium of cyans are less potent than mycellium of cubies. I don't know that from experience either way cause I don't eat mycellium, but if that's true, I would suggest trying an oudoor patch if you have spores.

Oh, that one must've flown over my head. I don't recommend consuming the mycelium, either. It's a waste. That mycelium can produce twenty times its weight in the form of mushrooms.
I've always assumed the levels of psilocybin in the mycelium were relative to the species/genus, seeing as how mushrooms are nothing more than water-bloated mycelium.

It's certainly easier to produce a couple lbs of cyan mycellium rather than the actual shrooms. And if relative potency also applies to the mycellium......
Someone said cyan mycellium isn't too potent, I don't know where that info came from. I've never heard of any tests!

thanks captain max.
that's what i was getting at, the fact that they're supposedly so hard to grow (indoors at least) and if the content was relative to species wouldn't this be the better mycelium to do this with? like i said i've done this with cubensis and found it uneventful???
thanks all for the input.
b..t.w i seem to have trouble getting the mazapatec to colonise in the jars. is this normally a slow/difficult strain to work with?
and also, are the 'stones' simply swallowed?
