Yes, I too was "Reaganized" today

Had a whole list of things to do: Go to social security office, see advisor at college, speak with consultant at bank...
And EVERYTHING was closed in memory of "Reagan."
I have no hard feelings against the man, but I mean, come ON.
Was there a public service annoucement that stated the Western Hemisphere was going to close down just because an ex-president is dead? Did I miss it? Or did they just forget to announce it between the infinate gushings and verbal orgies on the news about the Great Ronald Reagan?
I was really looking forward to speaking to my advisor today too.
Ah, well...there's always Monday.
I hope.

Sucks living in the US. We don't even have that kind of crap when a politician dies.
Hell, I would be quite very happy if Jean Charest died.

I'm never happy that anyone dies, but I just feel annoyed at the entire situation. I feel that it is very excessive and unnecessary. I sat in traffic for close to an hour to go to the social security office, found out it was closed. I had a dim sensation of hope that the college would still be open (more traffic) but it wasn't, and when I called the bank it was clear that they were closed too. It's just that I was looking forward to getting all of this stuff done, and then was unable to proceed as expected because of the Reagan death madness.
It might even be selfish of me to feel irritated that government buildings and colleges have shut down for a "day of mourning," but I had set aside this particular day to get all of my errands done, and now I feel like my schedule is all off. In addition, I don't appreciate the attention that the death of Reagan is getting when there are real-world issues that I'd like to hear about, even if the information I'm getting is just senseless media propaganda. We all will die, and I've come to accept that death is an important and inevitable part of life, so the extravagent fanfare surrouding Reagan's death strikes me as a little bit abrasive.
I am just disappointed that my plans were thwarted by a dead person hundreds of miles away from where I live, I guess.

does anyone remember how long the flags were at half mass following sept 11th? I want to say it was for 10 days. Bush ordered the flags to be lowered for 30 days after Reagan died.
hmmm...draw your own conclusions.

There is nothing more annoying than the hailing of one persons life as more important than anothers... total utter nonsense that is.

yes you are supposed to be impressed, i am very impressize, my intent was too impress you, you were in need of an impressing and now my job is done. i believe ronald reagan participated in the killing of thousands of innocent people in central america, in the demonization of drug users, the destruction of the environment, and many people view him as next to jesus or some crap. it doesnt make me sad that he is gone. how 'assholistic' of me.
