There's a city near me that's very liberal (~ 70,000 people) and from my observations, I currently see about 50% of people outside walking on the streets and riding bikes wearing masks.  In my county there are now reports of an increase in positive tests for the omicron sub-variant BA.2.12.1 and some business and places are going back to mandatory mask rules. Some businesses put up new signs a couple months ago that emphasize that masks are STILL required - lest anyone thinks it's an old sign that people are too lazy to take down. The two meditation groups I attend have never lifted their mask mandates and still meet with everyone masked and they also do social distancing and also use Hepa filter machines.

Yesterday I heard a friend say, "I'm going to be a good Buddhist and put my mask on".

It's kind of ironic how anytime myself or someone I know gets sick we sort of wish the covid test would come back positive because at least all the attention to covid gives us a good idea of what to expect. My girlfriend was sick for like a week with some virus it was probably RSV but you can't just buy an RSV test at the store. I think now that you can buy a covid test you should probably be able to do that

Yeah I’m pretty sure I had RSV over the past three weeks. I’ve never had so much wheezing. Took forever to get over.

I just caught the Rona again.  It really was nothing this time around.  I had a raspy voice for a couple of days, slight headache.  I wouldn't have thought anything about it but the friend I was visiting (who had very similar, minor symptoms) texted me he was positive and was sure I had it too.  We were inside for a bit during the Mother's Day lunch, but we were out hiking the rest of the day.  :shrug:

The first round tore me the fuck up.  I got it back when it was still cool to have it, the April it came out.  104 degree fever off and on, vicious night sweats, no taste or smell, the works.  Lasted about a week and a half. 

I don't know whether it's the vaccine, the variant, or a combo, but I hope this is the light at the end of the tunnel for everyone.  I mean I've had colds worse than this.

Thanks!  Everyone at work kept wishing me better but I had to remind them I didn't feel bad in the first place.  It's funny how you can get an easy week out of work if you mention it, but you have to jump through rings of fire to get back in.  :lol:

Not gonna lie it seems like about 50% of everyone I meet/know, no matter what part of the world, is having the same or just recovered from the same. RSV is just my guess because it seems to be mostly causing bronchitis without significant changes to temp or whatever. A lot of folks are having it last one or two weeks. My girl got over it in about 9 days.


I still think vaping peg affords me a bit of protection from viral infections of the lower resp system but maybe I'm just trying to justify

Welp after staying here three days the person left but not before taking a covid test. Positive. Ugh. They were sick the entire time they were here.
