I worded that poorly. I meant the "freedom convoy" ...not trucks in general.

A truckers jamboree sounds like a good time.

Of course they are. Columbus, like basically every medium to big city in the country, is pretty liberal and the convoy is full of (non-Ohio) conservatives protesting... I'm not even sure tbh but whatever it is the Columbus subreddit certainly isn't going to like it. A minority of people in Columbus would support the convoy, and the subreddit is even more skewed politically than the population as a whole.

A few posts down in the sub there is a pretty reasonable gun post. One that is certainly not liberal leaning. And the roasting of the convoy seems fairly reasonable too.

I am sure the city leans more progressive, but the comments are pretty even keeled even if they are roasting the convoy.

If America had a mandate saying truck drivers needed vaccinations to drive their cute little truckalucks or something like that I could see the outrage

But at this point it just seems like a few hundred guys with trucks desperate to find a cult or sect to identify with and to pass the time and channel their deep seated rage at people who are more intelligent than they are

With the Canadian ones it seemed like the border vaccine mandates were the strongest thing anyone could come up with to connect Trudeau to any sort of purported initial tyranny especially affecting truckers. In almost all other cases but air travel, Covid related mandates here are/were provincial (but the mostly conservative premiers aren't as favored a target I guess). The term "manufactured outrage" comes to mind.

I'd guess it would be even easier for American truckers who don't meet the border requirements to find suitable work that doesn't require crossing the border. Most Canadian truckers just got the shots.

All of us truck drivers were expected to work during the pandemic, who do you think kept the hospital where you work supplied with everything you need to do your job?






You didn't spend weeks away from home driving 16+ hours a day to get to a delivery and then sit trapped in the cab of a truck waiting to unload for 8 hours where you can't get out because of covid restrictions did you? Fuck no you didnt

They're going about it all wrong, but they have every right to protest

Lol the clips they've been playing on the news are hilarious. They were like why are you doing this and all of them said the dumbest shit that wasn't even happening. One guy went off on a sick rant about face diapers say a bunch of shit that wasn't even happening and nobody was even pushing for so not sure why he was so outraged. Another guy said he was doing it because "maybe down the road if they ever think about doing any kind of mandate they'll think twice about it" these people are absolute fucking morons disrupting other folks business and lives for no good reason. Take your fucking middle finger signs back to whatever godless shithole you came from assholes.

Find a single post of mine where I ever complained once about doing my job

I just explained what we as drivers do for everybody. I didn't cry about sitting in the truck, just saying that's what we do for you so not sure where you got that idea from that it was a complaint. What were you doing during the pandemic to help? Raiding the shelves for toilet paper doesn't count

You do realize any time that any protests happen the media will literally interview hundreds of people to find the one dumbass who legitimately says the stupidest fucking thing and then make that their headline right? That's like discrediting tactics 101
