First day of maskless life in my city today, everywhere is mask optional besdies hospitals, airports and public transit. All gathering limits now lifted too so if you want to go to packed nightclubs full of sweaty maskless unvaccinated mouth breathers now is your time. The early cut off times for serving alcohol was stictly because "drunk people are careless" which is crazy. I should be able to have a midnight beer, its not anymore risky than an 8 pm beer. I disagreed with around half of the covid measures including labelling some stores Essesntial while places that were always mostly empty were shut as being a covid high risk spot. That was the kiss of death for small businesses. Its too bad we didn't have better regulations because the bad rules created disrespect for the all the rules from many people.

Anyway with restrictions lifted, again, I predict a series of outbreaks/waves > overwhelmed hospitals > return of restrictions > rinse and repeat. The government keeps telling us its time to "learn to live with it", while not building anymore ICU spaces or hiring anymore health care workers.

I do feel bad for people who had to wear a mask their whole shift, i work alone so it was 5 minutes at the start/end of shift. Im not crazy about riding my building's elevator with maskless people and the 3 person limit removed though. I have been able to limit possible exposures but its hard to avoid taking the elevator living in a highrise.

We dropped our mask mandate over a week ago but I was the only person in Costco not wearing one

I'm trying to remember the last time we had a mask mandate. If there was one at all. I mean I know there were laws saying that people can be fined for not wearing masks in businesses. But they were never enforced to begin with. And I'm pretty sure they expired way back in 2020 and the governor never bothered to reinstate


I could be totally wrong and there's been a mask mandate but if so it literally didn't matter. I haven't seen anybody say shit to anybody else about a mask and a really long time except at work

I still wear mine if I'm going into really crowded places.

Yeah. At first though, the mask wars were intense.

Having the option to wear a mask now and it not being viewed as strange is also nice, and I'm surprised the USA didn't do that sooner like before covid, like some other nations have.

One thing that does bug me though is when someone is not wearing a mask where it IS mandated, and someone out in public clearly sick and coughing, without a mask, or like in a restaurant packed with people and your kid is sick and sneezing/coughing in a somewhat small room.  Like WTF people!

That kind of stuff bugs me.. but I was surprised, no one said anything or walked out or anything



I was in the back of the kitchen BTW, well away from the front of house. Our servers do wear masks most of them but one of them doesn't. None of the people in the back wear masks except for one who did for like 2 days.


Remember, this is the restuarant where I caught covid in the first place. Well, yeah, I still work there.... Maybe 3 months in when I become vulnerable to reinfection I'll quit or start wearing a mask.

Two tour buses full of kids on their way back to Tennessee from a class trip to DC took over the grocery store and they were all wearing masks. I’ve noticed that kids are much better about wearing masks than their parents
