How would it be medical malpractice for the doctor not to approve a medical exemption? It’s not even a medical treatment they’re withholding. It’s like your doctor refusing to sign a sick note for you. Unless I’m completely misunderstanding what kind of exemption is being talked about.

Thats bullshit alot of people are on parol and shit and if theyre sick and miss work they would go straight back to jail! Plus they could he Muslim or something religious thats a violation of the constitution!

Not sure what this is getting add, but I am fully aware humanities use of the environment make zoonotic transfer of disease ever increasingly likely.  The dumb luck, is there are a lot of bottle necks a disease must pass through after infecting a human to become a pandemic.  Odds it does are vanishingly small... but you know what they say about poor odds, just roll the dice enough times and it goes from uncertain to guaranteed.

Whether or not he's right he sounds like he's kind of a shitty person.


So he should hate his job and take pleasure in the uncontrolled spreading of preventable disease and suffering like you fools? Primary prevention saves more lives than treating illness ever will. People who spread suffering should be stopped and it's okay to feel good about stopping them, particulary if it's part of a persons daily job.

This woman is the definition of a shill. Someone from the anti-vax movement "did their research" and found a nurse with a potentially "compelling" backstory and (almost certainly) paid her to recite this series of fallacies in front of a crowd. Every single argument is fallacious. It's just one argument from authority after another with zero actual substance.

As a nurse who has also been working with covid patients (and giving patients remdesivir, which, while not a silver bullet, does seem to benefit many patients), I can see why people are upset about the situation. Some of the policies have been thrown into place a little haphazardly and/or not modified appropriately in response to changes in circumstances. My patients are still not allowed visitors even when they are Covid negative. Now that covid mortality is largely restricted to those who chose not to get vaccinated, our set of moral obligations to those people has changed.

I strongly advocate for a patient's right to refuse treatment. If these people want to try and treat themselves, it's not my place to force the treatment the doctors prescribe on them. Anyone trying to claim that hospitals are forcing treatment on patients and comparing it to a concentration camp cannot possibly be acting in good faith. We're not. The hospital literally sends home every person they can send home as soon as they can send them home safely. Because of the way that they get reimbursed by insurance companies and or Medicare- using what are called diagnostic related groups- sending people home as early as possible is literally the only way the hospital can make money. The moment they think it's safe for you to go, they'll send you on your way. If the hospital hasn't sent you home yet, it's because they're concerned you'll die right after leaving and then they'll get sued.

Besides, at the rate that patients are coming in now, we just don't have any real incentive to argue with people who want to refuse treatment, even if we had the time and energy to do it. There are more than enough people who are actively seeking the treatment you are refusing out to fill the beds. I haven't seen a bed stay empty for more than 15 minutes, excepting the cleanup time between patients, since April 2020, on any of the three different units I have worked (Emergency then trauma ICU then trauma orthopedics floor). If you want to leave I will gladly show you the door.


It's pretty clear at this point that covid is almost always transmitted by droplets that are inhaled. But the hospital still wants to try and make everyone wear face shield. I just ignore the policy. At first my manager made a comment about it. Which I ignored. I haven't worn a face shield in like 6 or 8 weeks, and nobody had said anything to me about it since then. Then again I also don't pay attention to the uniform policy with regard to color. This is the privilege of the nursing profession right now. Face shields are an example of the policy that made sense at one time but that should be reassessed. Along with visitation policies- as nice as it has been not having to deal with families and their endless questions, I care more about the well-being of my patients. Being stuck in the hospital alone- especially if you have a potentially fatal disease- is a literal nightmare. Some nurses are very selfish though and they would have no visitation policies remain in place indefinitely just because it makes their job a little less frustrating even though it makes the hospital experience much much worse for the patient. The woman in the video is likely one such nurse, despite all of her rhetoric about how other people don't care.

Pff. The integrated area under that death curve might be huge, but it almost looks like we hit an inflection point on the deaths. Maybe the antivaxers who can still catch their breath should start running around yelling about that prematurely. I can't wait to see how stupid my generation is in 20 years. They're already pretty fucking dumb, and covid isn't making them any smarter. I'm half temped to start stapling masks to people's faces at this point, but I'd settle for tacks if people don't like staples.

This is very scary.

I have several close friends with HIV in Germany and over the last 12 months there has been a escalation of sickness and sadly deaths within this community

Now a super HIV strain is recognised in the Netherlands

It's almost as though an angel of death has descended upon the world to... Do a periodic separating of the wheat from the chaff. I can't stop myself from seeing it that way from time to time, no matter how strongly I suspect that the tendency to "see it that way" has caused a lot of what I generally think of as being [the sort of] problems [that have the potential to have been or to be at least partially resolved].
