The Book : - Alan Watts - whos read it??
    #2758372 -

Ive nearly finished reading 'The Book : On the Taboo Against Knowing who you are' by Alan Watts, and I have to say that its been a fanatastic and thought provoking piece of material. Even if you dont agree with Watts message, his writing style is almost like poetry. Quite a shame that he died long before I was even born, because I feel that it would have been quite an experience to see him talk in person.

Anyway before I ramble on anymore, I just wanted to know if anyone else here had read this particular book, if they had any thoughts on it??

I must say, being as fixated on the problem of personal identity as I am, that I cant get enough of material such as this.

I enjoyed it as well (allthough for some reason after reading it twice in the last four years I can't remember anything from it). Check out 'The Wisdom Of Insecurity' too.

Funny you guys should mention those other two books, I ordered them from Amazon.com at the same time that I ordered The Book. Infact I ordered 6 Alan Watts Books in total!!! Ill read the ones you've recommended next, thanks!

I find each time I read 'The Book' just through the thoughts that it provokes, I can end up in a mildly altered state of conciousness, not too disimilar to a small amount of LSD. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon or am I just crazy??

Jono,
