Selflessness
    #27482090 -

The Self is a little, L-shaped thing in the center of your
consciousness, which interferes with all other cognitive aspects,
like thoughts and emotions. The problem with the self is that
it is completely and utterly useless. And I mean USELESS, in
capital letters.

So what to do about it? That's an easy one: Practice selflessness.
You are supposed to completely and utterly ignore your self.
With a lot of practice, it is even possible to eradicate the
self completely, as is the case with the tibetan bodhisattva
Vajrapani, who is said to be completely without self.

I have heard that Vajrapani plans to take, or has already taken,
a rebirth at matter, becoming a Buddha. So these should be
interesting times to come. It may even be that Vajrapani is
an incarnation of the hindu god Shiva. In an ancient prophecy, it is
said that Shiva will appear and end the Dark Age.

Everything in your consciousness (or outside, for that matter) is
an object. Nowhere in the universe can a subject be found. Even the
self thing is an object. The problem is that you identify with it,
which makes it a bit tricky to discern it as such. However, in
reality, it still is an object.

I don't, though.

I'm not the Self, I'm the anything and all, and nothing or greater or lesser measure than anything else.

Are you saying that you're fully self-realized/enlightened?

It may sound spectacularly arrogant :snub: but I have especially looked up the definitions of self-realisation and enlightenment and I have to say that yes, in a way I am.

I have a spirit guide guiding me since birth, I went through unspeakable hardships but have a passionate love for life, but would cross over when it is time. People have done the most horrible things to me yet I love them passionately, I fully realize that which I am and my role of that in the cosmos and have communicated that to the world in a teaching, I am fully, 100% of the time aware of this state of affairs, a lot of the time I speak not from the ego self but from the Cosmic Self, I go around doing works of good, I got an impressive buddha belly going , when is it enough.

Yes, I'm self realized and enlightened.

Have I achieved Buddhahood? Certainly not, and in fact I see the desire to physically transcend the cycle of rebirth, to end suffering as a hangup, an attachment of its own, a sign of not fully having transcended nonacceptance of suffering, the not seeing of the big picture of which suffering is an inherent part.

I understand the world and my place in it, I love it passionately, wanting to live for 10,000 years, but if Divinity were to materialize a poison cup on my desk now and ask me to drink it to continue the journet, yes I would drink it out, not knowing the mercy or cruelty of the poison, just that it will lead to death in exactly the right way.

Cause thats exactly how it is: everything is exactly right the way it is, always. Each of us is all of us. Flawed as we may seem the Whole is perfect.

Yeah, I'm enlightened, want fries with that?

I still chuckle at guinea pig fart jokes its a bigger deal leading up to it than being it.

I hate to spoil it for ya, but you are not enlightened. Enlightenment
means that you remember your past lives. It is a very down to
earth thing. I'm sorry.

I'm glad that you know me so well that you can conclusively state that I don't qualify.

The most anemic definition I ever heard, if past life recollection was all it took. Its so much more than that.

Well, that one is traditional Buddhism. It is the Theravada
definition of enlightenment.

But let me elaborate a little.

A long time ago, beings had the theory that there are two consciousness
singularities, Anatta (Selflessness) and Atman (The Cosmic Self).
There was one guy in particular of whom they thought had achieved
Atman. He didn't teach, so they didn't know for sure. However, he was
dead powerful. He had eight women.

These days, it is commonly accepted that there is only one singularity,
which is the uplift singularity at matter. You enter it by achieving
enlightenment, that is, remembering your past lives. It uplifts your
citta like hell. Uplifting your citta means that you increase your
self-confidence. You uplift your citta a little prior to enlightenment,
and it doubles the height of the uplifted citta after enlightenment.
Thus, it is a kind of singularity, an exponential growth.

That is the main power of a Buddha, apart from the paramitas.

Past life recollection events are very common, such as the one i had in 2008.

That in itself is not enlightening.

I'm not a Buddhist. My spirit guide insists I'm a bodhisattva but I have some disagreements with Buddhist doctrine as I understand it.

I go my way.

I have a destiny to fufill and I already know I will make it because reality on a certain level has already happened and I frequently premember parts that later fall into place.

To the Singularity, now! :tetsuo:

The  “dualistic game” of “self & other” as a means through which to remember our original primordial nature.

It’s as if a powerful spell of illusion, likened to a delusive dream of ignorance/amnesia,  has been cast on all those born of the void of awareness…
….but by virtue of what?….l…cannot..remember….:mushroom2:

Hmm, that's interesting that you make a distinction between enlightenment and Buddahood as you call it.  I had always equated the two, both being the highest/most encompassing state of awareness where there was no longer any identification with the ego self or the body.

But you seem to be saying there's a "step up" from enlightenment.

I guess maybe our definition of the word enlightenment just differs a little.  I am enlightened about a lot of things as well, and generally agree with all the truths you often speak of, mostly relating to the non-dual nature of consciousness/reality.  But this is on a theoretical level, my ego believes these things.  I still have one.  You even said yourself "a lot of the time I speak not from the ego self", which would imply to me that sometimes you still do, like all the rest of us (what I would call unenlightened folk) regardless of how far along the spiritual path we are.

So I guess that's where I'm confused... are you saying there are different levels of enlightenment?

There are different kinds of enlightenment and different degrees of it.

The Buddha path is one kind, the Jesus path is another. There are many paths. Every person who reaches enlightenment to a sufficient degree brings a particular flavor.

I don't consider myself "enlightened to a sufficient degree" by a mile, but I know i will reach it, either in this life or a life soon after, because that fully enlightened me is drawing me in, I'm clearly headed to becoming him at a point in the near future.

One of his Siddhi's, for lack of a better word, is projecting his mind through time and he uses that to roll out the red carpet for me.

I hope it will be in this life.

Ulktimately we'll all transcend that which a human form can contain and move on, increasingly converging with each other until One remains.

You don't have to be a buddhist to be a bodhisattva, but it helps.

Could you explain what's your problem with the Buddha's doctrine?
I'm just curious, because I cannot find a single flaw in these
marvelous teachings. The only thing I would criticize is that
the Buddha teaches kings. That's a bullshit thing to do, in my
opinion.

What you mean is zen-style enlightenment. It is step seven of the
eightfold path, which is called "Awakening". It entails the knowledge
that there is no self, everything is empty, we are all one, there
are no dualities, you are one with everything, there is a cosmic self,
and all that mystical stuff. That is definitely important. It is just
that the Buddha said that this is not the end of the path. The highest
enlightenment gives you hands-on, practical knowledge, which is threefold:
The recollection of past lives, insight into the workings of karma, and
the knowledge that you have abandoned unwholesome states of mind.
The past life thing is the most important one.

Only with real, practical insight into the workings of samsara can you smash
tanha and enter Nirvana.
