Habitat:On grass in wealthy we’ll kept lawn in California neighborhood

Gills:
Black,or dark brown attached

Stem:
length 1~2 inches,, brown/gray? solid, thin stem

Cap: a American nickle size, brown diffrent shades gray some area, weird bumpy texture, convex,

Spore print color:
Black
Bruising:
stem was very dark no clear bruising

Other information:
I think it’s a type of pan.

If the spore print really is jet black then there's a possibility it is...though you're gonna need a out 20 more to make it worth it

Probably Panaeolus cinctulus, but I can't certainly rule out other choices like P. olivaceus with the information available.

I'm pretty sure what we've been calling panaeolus cinctulus in grass is now pretty much considered N/A. Alan reckons the original type specimen may have been misidentified making grass cinctulus nomen dunium or even null.

I agree though Panaeolus olivaceous or fimicola are more likely

Regardless if the exact taxon is valid or not the species concept is still valid and relatively well understood. It is most likely what is commonly called P. cinctulus as its common in grass this time of year in CA, but P. olivacues does occur rarely. Its been a while since I thought about this in depth, but I recall P. fimicola is a different species?
