pomegranates are just so expensive here that they rarely sell at all, so never really noticed anything. that said, the last year or two, i've noticed a weird trend of fruits and veggies of all kinds being STUPIDLY HUGE WTF? first it was just odd potatoes and onions, with people mentioning the corn being amazingly perfect and sweet that year, then giant eggplants almost the size of small footballs, random yams not much smaller, hothouse tomatoes that looked like beefsteaks yet weren't (sadly, still tasted like wet cardboard...maybe slightly less so. maybe.), and grapes that looked more like the size of small strawberries.

recently we had garlic that looked closer to small onions and strawberries that i thought were going to rear up and eat me, they were so big. not that i'm complaining, but i've no idea what's behind it, unless scientists have recently discovered some plant hormone that tells plants to grow bigger fruits or something, similar to what florists sometimes use to induce blooming in certain plants. (temperature fluctuations or altering the number of hours of light can also be used, but this doesn't work on all plants, especially on tropical ones where temps and hours of daylight don't vary much normally from season to season.)

Don't care.  That fruit is a pain in the ass to make and get the seeds.  Kombucha Pomegranates drink is wonderful and the price for it will be the same.  Have to adjust.  Climate change, just read the news about the raise of tempts and wine country.
