Mushroom ID

I found this growing under some bushes, I know its not active but I was wondering what type it is.
I don't know how to make a spore print from this type of mushroom.
The habitat was : Michigan and they are growing under a few bushes.
The Measurment is: cap- 4 inches long, 2 1/2 inches wide.
The characteristics are: its completely hollow, it's a tan/ cream color.
The cap is long and tube like.
It hasn't really bruised.
It smells like a normal mushroom.

looks like some type of morchella to me!!


not active, possibly edible and if it is, its sooooo tasty!

wait for some other opinions first, though! :thumbup:

yeh, looks to be an old morel, Morchella esculenta. They're edible and good, but that one is past eating stage :\ .

Thats a morchella (morel) for sure, very prized edible but i wouldnt eat that as it looks way too old. People will rob u at gunpoint for these things  :crazy2: lol

That is a yellow morel, though a bit dry.

Any other opinions? I am currently trying to make a spore print from it. I'm using a red piece of paper, a glass, the spongey part of the Morel, and a paper plate. They have all been cleaned with 70% isopropyl alcohol. (however you spell it lol). I'll post a pic in a minute. Does it sound good?

It's a morel for sure, no debating that. As far as spores for morels go... I seem to remember that they're transparent.
