Ìndeed strange to see that chinese sell acacia and mimosa rootbark. It's fucked up Orwellian nightmare there. Drug possession is punishable there by execution or worse spending rest of the life in Laogai forced labor concentration camps.
But acacia seems to grow in southern part of China so it's legality is unclear to me. Maybe that just fake listing? Did anybody ordered it from alibaba and extracted spice from it?

I assume those are just largely wholesale distributors. The Chinese push tons of meth and fentanyl, literal poisons, hell theyll sell you a seemingly innocuous product thats just straight broken and toxic made by essentially slaves and child labor. I think its like part the culture over there or something. This shit is as old as time.

What it is is that they remember the Opium Wars and having the colonialism game run on them, hugely embarrassing to an empire that was used to being the biggest thing around. The Century of Humiliation. Getting the West dependent on their goods is how they are trying to turn that around.

Yeah they have been an empire and operated like one for a long time. But the "Century of Humiliation" made it personal for them. They thought they were the biggest power around and then they weren't. Definitely some symbolism in their role in the West's current opioid problems.
