I still don't understand what Trump could have done to prevent the job losses.  Sure, he could have done a better job of having tests and respirators available, but the job losses are the result of the country actually doing something (keeping people home).  Can anyone please help me understand?

The entire economy is made up.  Rents, Debt repayment, Bills, almost everything could have been paused.  The difference could have been made up by printing money and handing it out.  Everyone keeps their jobs, their businesses don't go under, etc.  Granted, Trump couldn't just unilaterally make that happen but he could have advocated for something along those lines and it might have gone a long way.  Senate republicans are afraid of his base.  Obviously, that was never going to happen because trumpy is scum as are the senate and the house on both sides

That's a great suggestion, but I think there's no way Congress would have gone along with that.  In fact, it was proposed by Pramila Jayapal but she couldn't even get any establishment dems on her side.

Dont let anyone forget that the credit bureaus refused to give people a break for reporting delinquencies on their loans. You know, the same type of credit bureaus that gave AAA ratings to CDOs (which were complete junk) that led to the finicial crisis.

What changes do you think will happen? With the economy folding federal taxes will stop being paid. No one will lend more money to a political structure that has no effective power to tax. When the federal layer is gone we will have states competing for resources and it can get ugly very quickly.

Of course I do not know what will happen but early stages of a complete meltdown would look just like what is unfolding - hospitals overflowing, riots, executive branch with the head up its arse, Xi or Putin ready to pay for more FB ads to keep the flames going...
