I think you can support him without putting yourself out there in a position where his company wheres you down. Distance yourself as you must, but offer an encourging word and support him if you can.
That is what I would do, I think.

he does it on purpose btw, directly at me. I've told him how i feel, he said "your just sensitive ho" "grow some balls" or "your in one of your moods again"

It's very simple. Just leave him.
If someone hangs out with you just to put you down... well you know the totem pole theory .

Great words daba.... im gona remember the totem pole theory
Centrum: A good friend wouldn't put you down or make you feel like shit like that. I would recommend keep doing what your doing and avoid that negative vibe. As far as his dad is concerned... offer your condolences if you feel its appropriate, but don't get back into that negativity... your too good for it

tell him that his habbit has changed him and that you don't want to hang out with him anymore because you can't stand being around tweekers anymore.
-------------------- Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me. In addition: SHPONGLE

I knew a groupd of tweekers and I kind of got sucked into their circle for a while (didn't do any speed but did hang out with them occasionally ONLY BECAUSE OF POT), and I know what you mean talking about paranoia and putting people down and saying things like "oh you don't mean that" or whatever, trying to deflect whatever you say.
They will tell you how they want you to feel, not how you feel. Tell him how you feel - I did.
I told them I couldn't hang out with them anymore because I didn't want to support their drug habbit and that the drugs were making them weird.
Looking back on the situation I still can't see how tweekers can't tell how messy their lifestyle really is.... its like "hello?"

naw dude, nice guys dont finish last... i used to think that way as well, but a lot of things in my life have opened my eyes. Most women, particularly the ones i have been interested in (the QUALITY women) can see right through all that bullshit people like your "friend" do. Yes it sucks, yes it wears you out, but who is the better man? the one who doesnt play that game. Women know whats up, and if they dont, they deserve what they get outa the man they choose. Just bide your time and leave when you can. And when you do finaly leave... make sure this guy knows why you dont want any of that shit in your life.

The totem pole theory in a nutshell suggests that there exist people who feel so damn shitty about themselves that they have to go find others to condescend in order to make themselves feel better.

That's why I try to find friends who will make horizontal totem poles with me.

You might be able to provide support for him and distance yourself when needed. Too bad about his dad.

yeah.... his dad died, but my other friend had to tell me, the dude never even called and said "hey my dad died" oh well, ego games are more important than this i guess, i admit it.
