I'm strongly in favor of organized antifascism and coordinated antifascist action but I see physical violence as the absolute last resort in response to an oppressive fascist force.

I'm sympathetic towards the notion of Antifa, but Antifa should not become a false flag of hooliganism for hooliganism's sake. If the objective is to stomp ass and the excuse, antifascist action, it is not much better than the hooligans who stomp ass under the flag of fascism.

Still, antifascism in itself is a noble cause, and fascism an evil that is a threat to the security of the population.

Leaf through a copy of The Turner Diaries if you need convincing that any kind of racial supremamacy is a dead end.

I abhor people abusing antifa as an excuse for picking a fight, but that said: Fuck Nazi Sympathy.

Fascism abolishes the rights of the individual and seeks to literally exterminate the majority of individuals until a select few are left. That is a great evil.

If upset people set fire to slaughterhouses I can totally see upset people punching a nazi.
Its not a solution, nor is is constructive nor helps the cause, but its understandable.

How about they are scared of the violent genocidal thugs among the fascists?

Thats not an irrational fantasy. According to a Stormfront poll they hate what they consider "race traitors" even more than they hate other races.

Antifa is like the Earth Liberation Front or Anonymous.

Any yokel can call themselves that, wear the symbols and do something stupid in the name of it.

There is not one Antifa, its decentralized.

Most antifascists arent brawlers or even protestors. Most use nonviolent means to stop fascism.

Why the masks?
You should be asking this question of the many paid police who wear masks and hide their name badges.  If you’ve never been up against a line of fully masked, identical looking officers dressed for war and weapons at the ready, you should, it will make you question just who is afraid of who.

Presuming this is a serious question, because the police aren’t fucking around, they have before and will again target people they can identify as Antifa or anti-capitalist and hound them sometimes to death.  The police have in fact called and tattled on protestors to their bosses to get them fired after they were identified at a protest.  Your life can be ruined by the government at no recourse, no judge or jury trial, purely for attending a protest on the side they disagree with.

Kd: what do you think defines a fascist?

(I like how all sorts of horrible and violent acts can be hidden behind the term “ideology” but you did sum up a huge reason why the iraq war failed.)

If fascism is a real "threat to the security of the population", it certainly doesn't need a group of 18-22 year old spoiled liberal brats dressed in black to save them from a tyrannical government.

The population can deal with it all on their own, it doesn't need any group like Antifa. What Antifa perceives as real threats and what really are real threats to the security of the population are two ENTIRELY different things.

Are talking about the incident 2 years ago now in 2017 where Ben Shapiro cowered out of talks in Berkeley with no need for protestors to appear and bother his fans, even though the university had already spent $600,000 in security to make him feel safe?
Or is this a different Shapiro con you are referencing?

Oh, I was unaware of Antifa directly protesting specific actions or polices of certain law enforcement agencies.

As far as the Berkeley protests, I messed up with the timeline and mentioned Shapiro. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Berkeley_protests ; Either way, I think the point was made.

Antifa is not an organization, it’s a label, there are never any ‘official antifa’ protests because there isn’t an antifa organization to make them official. People who call themselves antifa (a many decades old term) do indeed also protest the police.

I don’t think your point was made at all. 
That article makes it clear right-wing speakers were motivated by stirring shit, and not actually speaking.  Anne Coulter for example was offered multiple other venues but she turned them down, as the point wasn’t to speak to citizens it was to cause a stir at UC Berkeley, it was to stir shit and then run back claiming she was persecuted.

Unless your point was the conservative media created an artificial situation they knew they could cry about and then milked it in donations and page views for over two years.
