I agree that what you are allowed to hunt with is just fine for hunting, I mostly hunt whitetail and hog with a bolt action rifle. I own an old model 100 winchester semiauto .308 but my .270 bolt action is far more acurate and deadly at any range with the same magazine capacity.

The firearms laws came into effect in Australia in the late 90's, after the Port Arthur massacre. Everything you own is available to anyone who has a firearms license.

The reason primary producers >100 acres can own semi autos, is to control large feral populations of goat, pig, water buffalo, horses etc. We have alot of vacant land and large stations here. Alot of feral animal control is done by helicopter.

I think most people fail to realize what situation America is in. People point to Australian gun laws as success stories.

Here in America where there's not nearly as many or as strict of gun laws i still have purchased every firearm ive ever owned from someone who was a felon not allowed to own it in the first place.

Make what laws you want I'm already buying black market guns because I know my names not on a list. I have nothing on my record misdemeanor or felony. Yet i buy my guns from felons....
Laws ain't going to Change shit especially for people who were going to do bad things anyway. The only people who will listen to those laws are up tight suburban white old people.

People need to separate knee jerk emotion from the desire to have legislation made. Banning anything historically backfires or has unintended consequences. Guns are illegal enough already to have made a huge black market for easy guns here in the states.

Can you explain why the deaths related to firearms and gun violence happen to more people per capita in the US than any other developed country in the world?

That stat is from 2010 but you get the point

I've known this to be the case, there are sources everywhere. but it's on wiki amongst many other places https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate

You have to start somewhere and I think high powered high capacity totally uneccessary weapons are a good place to continue the regulation right behind rocket launchers and hand grenades.

I fully realize you are drowning in guns.
It's a massive complex problem that is unique to the states... but it is a problem...I mean here we are.

If it is to change and i see the glimmers...once again here we are...itll be through a cultural shift a very long very slow oil tanker turning type shift.

The regulation and laws changes will be a tiny fragment of the bigger picture.

Many assumptions above but that's opinion.

We are a different culture, push hard enough and someone may fire that first round starting a new civil war, it is taken that seriously and we are not going to roll over and let democrats trample the US Constitution.  Every cop and member of the military I know agrees with this sentiment, people that went and fought in the middle east are ready to rock and roll here too, guaranteed.

Because our police are armed to military standards in most cases and the number of people they shoot as well as suicide and gang violence as well as justified shootings.

Suicide: though tragic, is unavoidable as healthcare in the US is unaffordable at best and highway robbery at its worst. Leading many young people to take their lives instead of seeking (very costly) treatment. 19,392 Circa 2010

Gang Violence: Organized crime will be organized crime.

Police: See "Organized Crime". 20% of the self-defense incidents, the guns were used by police officers.

Mass Shootings: Although mass shootings are covered extensively in the media, mass shootings in the United States account for only a small fraction of gun-related deaths.

Homicide: Dwarfed every year by suicide. 11,078 and people still kill people elsewhere.

You gave great reasons right now why our gun laws, standards, and culture suck.

Did you see the part where research shows that suicides in the US are mostly by gun and this actually leads to higher rates of actually completing the act?

we are ranked 4th out of 34 for homicide by firearm rates for developed nations with only mexico,Turkey, and Estonia ahead of us according to the OECD.  Thats a big problem considering we are supposed to be the "land of opportunity" n "big badass america" n "freedom woo".  our police shoot a lot of people but they arent why the rates are through the roof.

this issue is complex and i dont think it's possible to take away all the guns forever n ever nor do i want that at all but i dont agree with being blind and saying "but ma freedums!! Guns are as dangerous as spaghetti" is helping anybody but other people with long hards for guns

Amazing. Openly threatening war against the United States is sedition. And you people think you’re the patriots. If the law says you have to turn in your guns and you don’t then you’re criminals. Grow up. Your toys aren’t worth it.
