I think we should ban people's keyboards. No one needs semi automatic, thought to text, first amendment assault rifles. First amendment was framed with 19th century technology in mind. No one foresaw telecommunication and electronic keyboards. We should all convey our thoughts with ink and paper. No one needs to reply to more than 6 people in a night.

I don't know, Jokeshop. I mean yes there's obviously a lot of that -- them shooting each other, but  the United States estimates that roughly a quarter of a million rapes occur annually. Roughly a million home invasions in the US annually.

And I'm guessing that a large percentage of these perps were armed. And I am highly skeptical that more heavily regulated gun restrictions would stop any of these people from still owning guns. And those are just a couple of examples.

But I'd love to be wrong and would want nothing more than for the gun violence in this country to see a huge reduction in incidents. Obviously.

Like I said I've never even owned a gun in my life.

It always starts with taking things away from the "enemy"

Outlawing abortion lowers the amount of abortions done
Just like outlawing guns lowers the amount of shootings

Neither leads to good consequences but they try.

People like to be authoritarian though. Always wanting the government to tip things in their direction. Starting with you cant do anything that infringes on my rights as the natural starting point and moving to you cant do or have anything that could potentially infringe on my feels.

I recently got a 38 special. Never owned a gun in my life until a year ago. Just shot it for the 1st time this weekend. It has a nice little kick to it. I keep it by my bed and that's about it. It's precisely for shooting someone if they come in and try to harm me or anyone in the house at the time.

Wrong. You ever wonder why you don’t see any mass shootings or any shootings using machine guns? They are banned. Have been for 33 years.

When the Las Vegas shooter used a device that gave a semiautomatic the capability of a fully automatic, bump stocks were banned. Owners were required to surrender their bump stocks to the government. Democrats didn’t do that. Donald Trump did.

I'm more or less talking about your common street criminals and the guns they most often are equipped with. That's where the vast majority of the gun violence comes from, right? What percentage of mass shootings make up the overall gun violence in this country?

I don't see that ever going away. I think you could make all guns illegal tomorrow and any criminal who prioritizes having a gun will still get one. And that's the guy (all of them combined) that make up the bulk of the staggering gun violence stats in this country. I'm not saying that these mass shootings aren't horrific, because they obviously are. But clearly the everyday criminals with guns waaaayyyyy outweigh the mass shooters, no?

Anyway I'm not even trying to argue for being pro-gun, I'm just extremely skeptical that the gun violence stats see a significant decrease like some seem to think if we were to hypothetically institute a gun ban nationwide.

Like I said earlier would love to be wrong though.

I just talked to my dad who lives in Mobile AL. He lives pretty much one block away from a stadium I think where they host Alabama college games. Not sure if it was mentioned yet or if it escaped the news. He heard 10 gunshots and thought it was fireworks. It was not. Shot 9, no deaths yet. Its fucked up man.

On a morbid strand of humor, one guy got hit in both legs but survived and was out of the hospital the same day apparently was stuck on the side of the road a few days later and got his car blasted from behind. Flipped the car 4 times. Fucked him all up but still alive. Just unreal Final Destination shit in this world.
