Cocaine, marijuana, shrooms and Oxy seized in Anne Arundel County drug bust

ARNOLD, Md. (WJZ) — More than 656 grams of cocaine, marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms were seized in a drug bust in Anne Arundel County Friday morning.

County police were tipped off about drug activity at a home in the 600 block of Southern Hills Drive in Arnold in July. They executed a search warrant Friday morning and seized the following items:

    21 grams of cocaine (estimated street value $12,221)
    88 grams of marijuana (estimated street value $9,177)
    58 grams of psilocybin mushrooms (estimated street value $2,785)
    12 Oxycontin pills
    Cutting agents/paraphernalia (powder inositol, powder caffeine, bags, empty gel capsules, scale)
    S. Currency
    2009 Jeep Cherokee

A 34-year-old Arnold man was also arrested in the case.

Benjamin Paul Freeman was charged with possession of CDS – marijuana, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, and Oxycontin, possession of CDS with intent to distribute – marijuana, cocaine, and psilocybin mushrooms and possession of CDS paraphernalia.

I don't know why cops overstate the value of everything.  Oh that's right, it's called lying for a charge and conviction.  It's laughable at first, then the sad truth reveals itself.

Those are all personal use amounts valued at 5-6x their actual value.

Typical. The fact that this is still going on in this day in age is insane, and shows exactly why we need to change drug laws.

More like 10x

They got me for a felony 14 years ago because they said the car was totaled and worth nearly $10k when it blue booked under $7k.  It wasn't that damaged either, just the dash/vents and windshield.  Uncle sam probably parted it and made a fortune.

Well the got a 2009 jeep out of that raid. So they must be pretty happy. I've never understood how you can just seize items when you have no proof that they where derived from the sale of drugs.

I know a guy that got busted selling weed and all his stuff worth money was seized (TVs etc) his lawyer told him if you can pay you can play in this county. He got most his shit back by donating money to the bureau's retirement fund that's some greedy crooked shit IMO.

Depends on the state. Some states require a cinviction but most do not.

The really sad part is our elected officials and jury (even judges are elected or appointed by politicians) are dumb enough to fall for these FALSE facts.

I honestly don't think nor find any evidence to support drugs being the cause of poor people nor culture that isn't 'elevated'.  Plenty of rich folks do drugs, and can afford attorneys (or have one in the family).

Point being classifying drugs and people for what drugs they use, is a poor standard for society.

Seems unconstitutional that they ASSUME you are a dealer as per the legal code simply by low low amount standards.

10 grams of anything is considered bulk in Ohio.  Or 10 unit doses.  Which is odd too because there is no prescribed nor standard dosage for illegal drugs.  It's a charge they assume that they do not have to prove anymore than what in reality are very small amounts.  It's the perfect example of people writing laws that don't know the subject matter.

Seems that the more they try to solve the drug war, the more shit they create.  It's like the Govt telling a doctor, if someone is prescribed more than 10 pills, they're gonna end up a drug dealer.
