A grown adult needing an animal with them to go the grocery store on a milk run with them for "emotional support"? Or down the street for a trip to the bank? Or wherever? You hear a lot of stories where people get on planes with their support animal, some of which are permitted and some that aren't (depending on the animal).

Of course there are extreme situations/cases that may call for it, and I get that, but outside of that, I think it's a little absurd for an adult who doesn't have a serious mental or physical condition to need an animal at their side just to leave the house. For example there's this girl I know -- she just recently got her "service" dog. She's like 25 years old. There's nothing wrong with her. I mean nothing to where she needs a dog at her side at all times anyway. She's your typical mid-20's young woman -- works, goes out on the weekend, shops, etc.

But when I spoke to her recently she was telling me how she just got her first "service animal" for emotional support.

And a few weeks ago I was walking through the grocery store when this couple walks by me, they looked to be in their 30's to late 30's, and the woman of the relationship walked by clutching a little dog as if she was walking through Vlad the Impaler's forest of impaled corpses. Dude. It's just the grocery store, lol.

As I've gotten older I have really tried harder and harder to never judge anybody, but the whole emotional support animal thing still got me like

I like animals too. Quite a bit. But why don't we just call it what it is then and call them a "I'm bringing my pet along just because I want to" animal instead of disguising it as an "emotional support" animal, lol.
