Mysterious Golden Mushroom/Truffle ID Request

Hey all! Found these guys at a local park on the northern end of Victoria on the edge of a garden bed snuggled up next to the path. Not sure if it is a mushroom, truffle or something else but I saw on another ID request that looks similar that it might be a puffball. Can anyone confirm?

No noticeable gills that I can see. Short stubby stem but they were quite solidly fixed to the soil. Cap/heads are a very bright golden color. Inside flesh of one which was already broken appears to be grey/purple in color (not sure if its rotten or if that is the color they bruise). I haven't cut open any yet but can do to help with identification. Anyone know what they are and if they're edible? Thanks in advance!
