Tracking Generations
    #26061332 -

If I start with a MS syringe to agar -> agar to grain -> grain to grain -> monotub, is that still considered 1 generation or are there multiple? Are generations counted by any colonization period? Medium changes? Actual Fruiting periods (which are then used to colonize more agar/grain)?

Someone can correct this if I'm wrong, but I believe the first generation is the agar isolate, and then after fruiting you use the fruits to get another isolate, which then becomes the second gen, fruit and isolate, that's third, so on and so on.

Cool, that made more sense to me than each medium transfer being a new generation

I track generations like this, A2G = Master jar. M2G = gen 1, gen 1 G2G = ge2, and so on. I track it like this because I've run G2G too many times and winded up with weaker genetics in the past. Now I make sure I don't run anything past gen 4, at that point its gotta get tubbed.

*the whole creating clean agar ready to inoculate with, I also count those but separately. So syringe to agar would create a gen 1 plates, and A2A from that would make gen 2 plates, and so on. That I imagine you could do indefinitely unlike with G2G. I only mark them like that because there might be slightly different characteristics as you keep isolating it further.

Each generation is grow out from spore gen 1 clone then fruit then collect spore grow out again gen 2 and so on every time you produce from spore it's a new generation
