I went back to a place i found some ageing subs last year but there was not much there. I did find these, but I'm not certain they are subs.
The photos aren't great sorry.

There were two kind of patches of similar mushrooms. The first actually look more like subs in the photo than I thought at the time. However, the stem looks pale white with none of that silvery blueing colour and I think I've I.D these as an inactive lookalike in the past.

In the second lot the caramel brown looks like golden tops to me and the gill colour is light brown. But they have more of a rusty brown stem than the delicate white/blue I'd like to see. The discolouration after picking is kind of blue/grey.

In fact, there was some growing on rotting wood, the other on moss or undergrowth, (the ones I'm holding up). But I think they are the same.

They got a bit mangled in this pic and it's not great photo sorry.

I won't risk it unless 100% positive I.D, I just want to get better at I.D - ing and hopefully there's still some around this season.

Any feeedback would be great cheers

Greensleeves again. I actually went picking again today locally in north-east melbourne close to home. can anyone help me I.D?

Some of these I am sure are subs. But some I am not sure of, even though they are both caramel topped mushrooms growing in the same area.

They were spread out in little dots along a trail, rather than in whole patches or clusters. So I'm not sure if there were 2 types or if they're variations of the same mushroom at different stages of development?

The first I have seen around a bit but not sure if they are subs. They have a caramel top and light brown or even pale gills. They have a white stem, but it has a rusty brown on it, rather than that silvery blue I like to see as my ideal sub.

I did come across some that look clearly like subs to me, they have a silvery blue white stem and are bluing now after picking. This one has a more conical shape than the others I picked, but I'm actually am having trouble distinguishing from the photos I've taken which mushrooms are which, so I recognise this one as a sub.

I have sorted them into two piles and taken a photo of each. Pile 1 have the caramel tops and white stems with a brown 'rust' on it. I am less sure of these. They are slower to bruise though look like they may have tinges of blueing/grey discoloration coming on.

I wonder if they subs, just fresher than the ones in pile 2? The ones I'm sure of as subs (pile 2) were growing together with them, or along the same path.

Pile two is smaller. They have silvery stems and are bluing after picking (subs I'm quite sure).

I will take spore prints perhaps but would like initial feedback if possible?
