H&C best for tea?  I dunno about that.

Do tell. Also, with H&C you still the whole "let it flower and then let the petals drop off" first, correct?

You always let the petals drop first.  You don't even start counting till then.
IME Tasmanian , Peshwar and  Turkish are some of the best. I had bought a whole host of strains at one time and there is a definitive difference between strains.

Should I thin more? The pots are rather big and deep.

Update 5/10:

Seems everything is chugging along smoothly. I do have a few clusters whose leaves look diffent than the others but they all looked the same as seedlings. Maybe different variety of poppy? A few buckets are straggling but I think that is due to me sowing them at different times. Question, I get the feeling some of the big ones are going to start fighting for sun, would putting a top layer of perlite, or even just some perlite in general on the soil, aid in light distribution?

Those plants that you circled are not poppies.  Pull 'em.

Back with more questions. It has been raining daily for about a week or two now, and I have noticed that the leaves are turning yellow on my plants. It starts at the base and then spreads out towards the tips of the leaf. Would this be due to all the rain? Should I get some nutes for them? I had recently moved them to an area that provides an extra hour or so of sunlight, they started doing this afterward. Should I move them back?

Side question: should I thin out a few more or will they be ok for now? Just using the material they provide to make tea so I would like to have an abundant supply of material.

Too many in one container. Those size containers
can hold 1 poppy each.

If your careful you can transplant them. But be
very careful. Papaver usually grow a decent size
taproot so it's best to get them in their perm
home.

Those pots are the final spot sadly. They are pretty deep. I thinned out the youngest ones but I doubt they will transplant well at this age.

Could you elaborate on why what I have is too many?

I have a bunch of seedlings starting up. Should I be thinning them to only one or two per pot? What distance, I know I have read it somewhere, is each plant supposed to be from the other.

The roots will grow laterally. You need at least a foot
between each plant.

Ahh, ok. Thank you for elaborating. So they are being denied nutrients by the others or the roots are fighting for space? I would assume a little of both. Goddamnit lol, I get this far finally and now have to kill even more. Guess we are still technically in spring so I may try to get more started.

Try repotting the others or put them in the ground in the garden if you have one.
They really dont like replant but when small it usually work decently.
Just try be gentle with the roots.
Some may die but i think most will live and grow on.

I replant many poppie seedlings and put them where i want them in the garden, but i do it when they are only 2-3cm tall and at that stage almost all make it.
Big poppies really dont like to be relocated.

I experience the same. My first poppy I grew indoors
in a  grow tent with all my other things and transplanted
like 4 times and made it. At the time I did't know jack
about poppies.

But def much easier repotting when small

Sadly, after reading so much about how transplanting does not work I had just pulled and tossed the smaller ones. I have two other buckets that have sprouts popping up and bought some proper sand soil for another two buckets.

I would replant in the garden but it faces all my neighbors and only gets a few hours of direct sunlight a day.

Yeah transplanting never works. I fertilizer every time and this thing is taller than me. They'll take as much nutes as you give. Bu. These may actually have high amounts my frieend. Your welcome. I just found another I never knew was poppies. It never flowers only looks like dandelion wish makers. I thought it was sujatar. But y'all said it's p som. Mexican variety.

The back yard is what is being used. My front garden area just receives too little light and I really do not feel like explaining anything to a nosey neighbor or LL. Hmmm, are you saying my soil may have high nutrient levels? Should I give them some? I do not want to compound issues if they are already suffering from something else.

I always thought it looked cool but it's so small. The seeds we're about 5_7 different colors all had fishnet. It's going to be awesometo have after I get oral surgery. Or break a leg. Arm.
